Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is the sole civilian airport serving Hyderabad and is located in Shamshabad, which is 24Km south of Hyderabad. The airport is named after Rajiv Gandhi the former prime minister of India it is also the fourth busiest airport in India by passenger traffic. The airport is owned and operated by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL). It is the first airport that is built under a public-private partnership model.
