About Ibiza Airport

Ibiza Airport (IATA: IBZ) handles 6 million people per year. With a spectacular view over the nearby salt flats of Salinas, the airport is less than a 10-minute taxi ride from Ibiza town. Everything on the island is within a 45-minute drive of the airport, and most popular resorts are even less than 20 minutes away.

During the Spanish Civil War, Ibiza airport was first created as a temporary military air base. It was used as an emergency transit hub for many years before being closed down in 1951. When international tourism took off in Spain and the Balearics became a popular vacation destination, the airport was refurbished as a commercial facility and opened its doors to leisure and business travellers on 1 April 1958.

Now Ibiza Airport has a single passenger terminal for local and international flights. Various stores, cafés, restaurants, duty-free shops, and VIP lounges are spotted in the airport. Certain services such as VAT refunds, a currency exchange counter, cash machines, and banks are also provided for passengers' help. Apart from these services, the terminal provides a business centre, medical care, post office, internet access, and other services for individuals with limited mobility. Situated 6.7 km from the city centre, one can travel by bus, shuttle, or taxi to reach the airport.

About Ibiza

Ibiza is a delightful Mediterranean destination, which allows you to let your hair down and enjoy a laid-back hippy vibe. You can relax on a Bali bed next to the blue sea and sip cocktails as you watch the sun that goes down. Ibiza was discovered by the Carthaginians in 654 BC, and at the same time, the Greeks arrived and christened the island Pitiusas, denoted ‘island covered by pines’. With a big harbour and excellent defences, the island was teeming with merchants and traders and served as an important commercial hub with salt being an integral part of the trade. The Romans captured Ibiza and called it Ebusus in 123 BC. The Moors arrived in the 9th century and ruled for over 500 years. Throughout the dynasties, Ibiza was noted for its alluring beauty and natural surroundings.Ibiza offers year-round fiestas and cultural activities. For centuries, Ibiza's traditional cuisine has been derived from its rich farmland, hunting and fishing. Because of the historic isolation and different ethnic groups ruling the place at different times, a variety of cultures and cuisines are observed, with modern Catholic Spain culture. The summer and beach season in Ibiza officially begins in May, when temperatures reach the mid-twenties. Temperatures can reach 30-35°F in July, August and September. The weather is normally warm during the fall months, but bring a sweater and a jacket as the evenings might turn cool. The winter months of November to April are reasonably moderate; however, they can be wet and cloudy.

About Madrid Airport

The Madrid Airport (IATA: MAD), often known as Barajas, is the main entrance to the city of Madrid. The airport gets its name from the nearby Barajas district. It is the country's busiest and biggest airport, ranking 10th globally and fourth in Europe in 2019.

Madrid Airport has five passenger terminals. Terminal 1 handles international flights, terminal 2 mostly serves domestic flights, terminal 3 facilitates terminal 2 operations, and terminal 4 and 4S are two independent terminals, which handle international planes both inside and outside of Schengen. The airport also houses two hangar areas and a cargo area with four runways. Located only 12 km from the city centre, one can reach the airport from the city centre by the metro, taxi or rental car easily.
