I had a fantastic first-time experience at San Diego Kimpton. The hotel is impeccably clean, and my room was truly delightful. The staff is not only friendly but also very efficient. While some may express concerns about the valet overnight parking price, I found it reasonable, and the valet staff impressed me with their efficiency and great service. Without a doubt, I would choose to stay with them again.

Overall great stay and a place I will stay at again when I come back. It might not be the best option for families with kids (it is right off a rail line and quite a few homeless people although I will add I never felt in danger and there was security outside the entrance at night) but for solo, couples, and groups it's a great value all around. First have to give kudos to all the hotel staff! They were exceptionally friendly and accommodating every time I interacted with them! The lobby coffee bar and bakery was great in the morning for quick grab and go. Location is on the north side of the Gaslamp District and walkable to tons of great bars/restaurants/shops. It's also right off the blue line trolley (which I used several times while I was there as I didn't need a car and pay $60/day for parking). The amenities really stood out as well, such as the free bike rental, hot chocolate bar in the morning, and HH/free wine from 5p-6p. They even had free yoga on Saturday on the roof. HIGHLY recommend taking the bikes out and cruising downtown to Seaport Village and back. Rooms were solid. Nice beds/pillows/linens and the walk in shower was great.

We had a great stay here. Staff is friendly and helpful. Paula was awesome! The room service breakfast was some of the best I have ever had in a hotel. Very good! Wine hour is so fun and free coffee/rea in the morning! We didn't have valet issues like some of the other reviews. Order your car in advance. Yes there are homeless outside. No fault of the hotel. That's what San Diego is full of, if you dont like it start voting instead of blaming the hotel. Had my toddler with me and I never felt unsafe. Rooms are small, not an issue for me, I had plenty of room. If you don't that spend more to upgrade. Easy fix. Would recommend. Room was nice and clean. Bed was comfortable. Windows open to much for my comfort though and wish the bathroom door shut all the way. Minor issues.

Even though the hotel altogether is good, I would never recommend it to anyone because the cleaners stole my expensive sweater from the room. After telling this to the hotel staff the next day all they did was look in the lost and found where it was not to be found. Then the actual cleaner that cleaned that day was not at the hotel and I also did not hear back from them! I filed a claim with the hotel and never got an email or confirmation back. Stealing guests items from the room is unacceptable. Now a couple less important things: I was missing hooks in the bathroom. There was not enough place where to hang my clothes. The room itself was on the small side with comfortable bed and high quality bedding just what you would expect from a Kimpton. The hallway was dirty, like the carpet was not vacuumed for weeks. I liked their social hour with little wine tasting and food sample. Pool and pool area nice but empty probably because I was there during the week.
