        We've never had a bad stay at the Aloft in other cities, however this one was below average. The building itself is in need of upgrades/maintenance. In our room, the shower head needed to be aimed toward the corner, otherwise the water would leak outside the shower - we had to ask for extra towels to clean up the water that leaked. The water pressure is very sharp to the point where it hurt to take a shower. Sheets were scratchy, smelled old, and the comforter was torn. Pillows were flat and uncomfortable. No microwave in the room - which wasn't a big deal, but for those that leave restaurants with leftovers, the microwave is in the lobby. The clothing iron in the room had something burnt and crusted on it - so I was unable to iron my shirt. Housekeeping needs to do a more thorough check because by the last night I saw a strange piece of clothing hooked on the pipes under the sink (the bottom of sink is exposed) - it was someone's bloodied period stained underwear from a previous stay. That alone made me feel uneasy and disturbed. I was disappointed in the lack of attention of cleaning between visitors - unsure how long this underwear had been there for. When we left at 3AM to catch our flight, the elevator was out of service and we couldn't even get back into our room to call the hotel desk - (also the phones weren't working during our entire stay anyway - so this would have been useless) instead we had to walk down 7 flights of sketchy stairs to get to our car parked in the ramp. When we checked out, we informed our frustration with the front desk (the bloodied underwear and the elevator) and they didn't do anything other than say "oh, that's unfortunate" - this will be the last time we ever stay in an Aloft.

        Great service at the hotel! However, the facilities and room were below expected standards. Here were the issues I found: 1. The hotel and especially the floor I was staying on exuded a strong paint like chemical scent. 2. The bathroom sink area walls had all this white stuff on them, resembling a bodily fluid that had not been cleaned properly. 3. The roof in the entrace-way seemed to have had water damage and black mold growing. Highlights of the stay: 1. Friendly staff 2. Walkable to Galleria and awesome top tier restaurants

        First the staff was great. This hotel is very tired and dated and doesn't meet brand standards. First in my room while clean, the TV was tiny and probably a 40 inch and changing each channel took 3 seconds. Yes 3 full seconds from pressing the button to the channel changing and sound on. The kind of cool gray subway tile was painted blue grout and all and was chipped away in many parts. Lots of scuffs, scrapes and scratches were on everything in and out of the room. The AC volume varied significantly from fan on to AC on making consistent white noise from it impossible. The toiletries used to be decent in A lofts and now they are pretty lame. This is probably the new brand standard. The gym was good. Aloft hotels are all cookie cutter nearly identical which is sometimes nice as you know what you will get. This one was pretty fun down though. Clean though and the staff was great but not up to brand standards.

        The location is the only thing I can say nice about this place. The manager and staff was SUPER RUDE!! my wrong this on behalf of my husband. He arrived before his brother because a flight delay of snow storm. His name was also on reservation, he’s a platinum member. Once arrived the staff said where is the platinum member, he explained flight delay due to storm. The front desk clearly said with a snarkish tone “well people always book for others to be platinum” is he really coming. That was VERY offensive. Yes he’s coming we are here for our sisters bday. The manager them comes over to help with the AAA card, asking to show the card, my wife has the app so I showed him the barcode from The app, he said we need the card, no1 has cards anymore things are digital! He then went on the say there was an issue with the reservation can we cancel it and rebook, we had to call the 800# cancel then rebook the reservation. After doing this, there was a wheel to spin to win extra points, the white couple in front was given a chance he was never asked to spin. After checking in he went to the desk asked about the wheel the same manager said it’s for the member only but I’ll let you spin, just rude!! After going out for the day he arrived back a tv 3am the front desk clerk asked, do you have a room here? He said yes and showed her his room key, she said well last name.. he said why do I need to give my last name? She said because I’m a lady here alone and need to be safe! He gave the name and left. He came back down a few mins later to buy a pop and she said I looked up your room is the member here yet because people like to book for others, he said why are you looking up my room and no I told them his flight was delayed - she said sorry and he went upstairs. We are leaving in the morning and going to another hotel!

        The outside and the lobby look great, but those are deceiving... The rooms are dated and cheap feeling. Our bathroom was gross with water stains and cracked tiles. We also requested extra towels which never arrived. The staff was friendly, but it didn't make up for everything else.
