I had some concerns staying here after reading reviews of old rooms. I modified my reservation and stayed in a renovated room - it was fantastic. Great use of space, clean, and comfortable. The staff including front desk, housekeeping, and room service were all amazing. The hotel offers free parking - a huge plus as we were on a driving road trip around Japan. Two things prevent a five star rating - the breakfast was average - everything was barely warm. I couldn’t find any hot items. And the location was further from some of the main walking attractions. It was extremely affordable to grab a taxi or train to almost all locations. Otherwise, it was a really great stay. I would stay again as long as I had access to a renovated room.

Really happy with this hotel. It’s an older hotel, but the rooms are renovated and very new and clean. The service was really great too. It’s located next to Nijo Castle and a few minutes from the subway, so easy to get around too. They have a free shuttle from Kyoto Station to the hotel as well. 👍🏻

Good location across from Nijo Castle and accessible to subway, bus, and trains. Limited options for restaurants/meals; souvenir/ convenience shop closed; spa has gender separate spa/ sauna facilities. Shuttle service to/from Kyoto station once per hour. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable with an assortment of pillows. Rooms have a small desk/ table area as well as coffee, teas, and an assortment of whiskeys.

Very dated hotel. It says it is 4 star but feels like old dated 2 star hotel with 4 star price. The ceiling is low and all decorations remind me of my grandma’s house. Not worth the price, you could easily find more modern room at Kyoto with better price.

Rooms are old. Located opposite Nijo castle and metro/bus stations. There is a free shuttle service between Kyoto station and the hotel. For the price point, there could be better options

Booking Policy

It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.
