Our family stayed at this hotel five years ago and we enjoyed it so well that we booked it again five years later. The same friendly/nice elderly couple (I'm assuming) working there as last time. The same nice traditional style Japanese rooms that we enjoyed. The surrounding neighborhood is a great place to explore on foot. 7/11 and Lawsons less than 1 minute walk away for any of your convenience store and snack needs. Home cooked breakfast available. It really is a great lodging place to kick off vacation and exploration of Tokyo.

I stayed here for 11 nights as a solo traveller whilst I visited Tokyo and the area, was very nice and relaxing environment. The couple who own the place are lovely and even arrange for a taxi to collect me when I was leaving as I couldn't book one. They spoke quiet good English as well which was very nice. I had a couple of parcels delivered as well whilst I was there which they kept for me which was really handy as well. Overall was really nice and good location as your just a short 4 minutes walk from either the underground line or a 12 minute walk from Nippori Station where the JR lines run and the skyliner from Narita. I would definitely stay here again given the value for money both being in a great location and a nice traditional Ryokan. The only thing I wasn't a fan off was the Futon but that's just something I think westerners aren't used to. Also the walls are thin being a traditional building so you can hear everything so bring an eye mask and ear plugs which I did.

I absolutely adore staying at Annex Katsutaro Ryokan! During my trips to Japan with both my family and on my own, this ryokan has become my go-to choice. The owners of Annex Katsutaro Ryokan are simply delightful and incredibly hospitable. The owners both speak English. They possess an extensive knowledge of Tokyo and are always ready to provide valuable recommendations for exploring the city efficiently. The ryokan rooms are clean, peaceful, and equipped with all the essential amenities for a comfortable stay. The rooms all have futons on tatami mats which create a cozy and authentic experience that perfectly suits my travel needs. Additionally, there’s an option to book your room with a Western style breakfast which I always enjoy. What truly sets this ryokan apart is its location. Situated near the JR Yamanote line (Nippori Station) and the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line (Sendagi Station), it offers convenient access to various areas of Tokyo. Additionally, the proximity to Keisei Nippori Station allows for quick transportation to Narita Airport via the Keisei Skyliner. Another aspect I adore about Annex Katsutaro Ryokan is its charming location in Yanaka. Nestled away from the bustling Tokyo neighborhoods, it provides a serene and tranquil atmosphere to come home to while also remaining within reach of Tokyo's diverse attractions. Additionally, there are also great food options nearby. Annex Katsutaro Ryokan is a wonderful spot in Tokyo!

A smaller, comfortable hotel nestled in a quiet traditional neighborhood. Within less than 5 minutes walk are various shops, konbini and restaurants, including Yanaka Ginza, a traditional shopping arcade. For further travel, two different subway lines are within a 10 minute walk, providing easy access to fast-paced Tokyo, with a quiet, relaxed respite for when you get back to the hotel. The rooms are in the traditional Japanese style, with futons on top of tatami mats--very soft and comfortable for me, but you'll only find chairs in the first floor lobby. Additionally, for the summer months, AC is available. For longer stays, there are two in-house laundry and dryer sets. You can ask the front desk for detergent, or visit a nearby konbini to buy some of your own. Lastly, the couple that runs this place is lovely. For English speaking travelers, there are numerous print outs in English, and the couple running the place have decent English as well (though I tried to use Japanese most of the time). Would stay again, 10/10.
