A good, simple hotel. I really appreciated the large ( height-wise) bathtub at the end of a long day of sightseeing. I had a decent view from the 12th floor and I was impressed by the tv's size and features. The space of the room, however, is definitely bordering on too-small for someone here on an international holiday. I can only open my luggage if I forfeit the ability to go to the toilet or go outside. The hallway is very narrow, and both the bathroom and entrance doors open towards the room. My favourite part of my stay was actually the laundromat, which was as cheap, or even cheaper than the coin laundries a few blocks away.

This is a story of how you may be discriminated if you happen to hold on to a non-Japanese ID. Just because nobody has written about it, it does not mean incident like this has never occurred. My stay (more than just 1 night, different from most reviews here) was pre-paid fully before arriving. Being served by this receptionist Mr. M. Mochida (持田さん). He displayed a visibly arrogant, intimidating and racist behavior, smirking and pointing when glancing at my ID. Next, as I was filling the home address, he disrespectfully questioned me “What kind of country is this ? Where ?”. Of course, you should have let me complete writing it first before cutting me off and acting wise, Mr. Mochida. Unnecessary arguments into a trivial matter ! I will not comment on the fact that this person could not muster basic English words of courtesy like “Thank you”, given the perceived international and prime hotel location. This is my worst experience with a hotel ever ! Dear APA Hotel, it doesn't matter how nice your room is if you already fail terribly at customer service when your staff engaging in such a discriminating attitude. First impression counts ! I will never return to this particular hotel in the future ! If I was a manager of this hotel, I should be so ashamed of myself for still keeping such a disrespectful and racist employee around !

just normal small hotel but the staffs are kind. actually I used Japanese for the communication with staffs so I don't know whether they are available to speak English. if you don't care about the size of room then this hotel is good for the location cause it takes 5 min from Fushimi stn.
