Location is great, and we had a pleasant stay. However, we were asked to pay 50€ deposit that was never mentioned when booking, and the lady at the reception said that it will be automatically refunded once we check out. We never got the refund back and the hotel doesn’t seem to care to reply on my emails.

Arcotel John F Berlin is a great deal. The hotel's location is excellent. It's close to various tourist attractions in Berlin. I could even see Berliner Dom and the TV tower from my room. The room is very spacious for the price. There is a sofa and a rocking chair next to the bed. My only complaint is that there was nobody at the front desk when I tried to check in at around 5 pm. I waited for at least 5 minutes before I started to knock on the door behind the front desk, which was when an employee came from the hotel bar adjacent to the lobby, explaining that he was the only employee in the bar and there was only one employee at the front desk, who was gone to do some other stuff. He seemed annoyed that another guest and I were knocking on the door and said, "We are having a difficult time." I wasn't sure what to make of his statement, but it was odd. I'd expect hotel employees to be more embarrassed than annoyed that guests are waiting to be served at the front desk for a long time. No "We're sorry" or "Thanks for your patience." Eventually somebody came and checked me in, but there was absolutely no acknowledgement that they had kept us waiting for quite some time. It's not the employees' fault that the front desk was understaffed, but they could have handled it more professionally.

A practically equipped and located hotel downtown Berlin. Nice room, though missing an iron in the room. The breakfast is quite average, offering the standard selection of food. The bartender at the hotel bar is extremely attentive and makes great cocktails. In general the staff is friendly and helpful.
