Firstly, what is really outstanding: + The service is world class, the staff is super polite and courteous. The hygiene is super as well as the daily room cleaning. We have rarely experienced anything like this at this level in Thailand. + Another plus are the rooms, which are large and have a wonderful bathroom. + You are also right on the beach. Now to the negative part, which definitely does not make the hotel a 4 or 5 star hotel: - The breakfast does not match the classification of the hotel, there are only pastries which are not fresh, hot dishes like fried rice and egg dishes which can be ordered. The selection is not particularly large or appealing. The pineapple looks tinned. The filter coffee is good. The service also lacks a certain sensitivity when it comes to issues such as topping up bread. - There are no cushions for the loungers at the pool, which really bothered us and is really bad for a hotel like this. - The road to the hotel is often flooded during heavy rainfall, which spoils the appearance of the hotel. A hotel of this class could change this. - There is a large building (a kind of block) on the hotel grounds which is empty due to renovation work and is full of old furniture. This takes the charm out of the hotel. - There is no gym Unfortunately, the outstanding service cannot make up for these points. I am aware that the negative points are "luxury problems", but for the price we pay, they are not worth it. I hope that these points will help you to improve the performance of the hotel. very good hotel, clean large rooms. beautiful and neat territory. in the restaurant you can order delicious food at a very modest price. probably due to the small number of guests, breakfasts were limited, but you can have breakfast.

We had a great time at Aura. The room condition was great and hotel staff were attentive and helpful throughout our stay, a week out of our 2-week hols. AC worked great, we got bottled water every day, and the area was quiet and peaceful enough to relax. Alright breakfast with a small omelette station. Hotel restaurant was okay overall to get drinks and room service when you feel lazy. You can also find a few restaurants nearby that serve quite good Thai food within the reasonable price range. A special thanks to Ain (apologies if I am butchering your name spell) at Aura. She was a big help for us during our stay from small requests around the amenities to getting our trip sorted to Koh Phangan. Lastly a few notes that may help you to make informed decisions cause I wished I would have known these prior to my booking. So here we go: - It is not in walking distance to the main Lamai area or the path to it is not so walkble (gotta walk along the busy road with no pedestrian, etc.), so you would need to take a cab (try Grab) or rent a motorbike to get by. - The beach the resort is on wasn’t really swimmable during our stay. The beach area was pretty narrow and the tide was high although it’s during the high season in Thailand. Not sure if this would always be the case but just as an fyi.

Can’t speak highly enough about Aura Samui. It’s a rare occasion that I wish I’d stayed longer in one place, but 9 nights could easily have been more. The rooms are modern and ultra spacious. The staff are welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. The location is amazing - just far enough out of the Lamai tourist trap area and surrounded by amazing family-run restaurants. The beach has rocks…but the smooth, round, non-confrontational type! Once the tide is in you won’t notice them. The pool is fantastic and the grounds are very well set out. I’ll be interested to see how they cope when the new ‘family suite’ wing is completed, but I’m pretty sure they’ll be fine. Right now, this place is a bargain at just under AU$100 a night. Once it’s fully completed and the word gets out, I suspect that rates will rise accordingly.
