the room was oldfashioned but comfortable, if you book a japanese tatami room its unique smell can be a bit unusual but that's normal and you get used to it. the AC worked fine, but in my room it was leaking water. there is a small fridge and table in the room and a futon bed. private showers are available in the 1F 24 hrs on request. a 24 hrs convenience store is right across the road. hotel wako is very close to the subway and JR stations. good price if you don't mind staying in that area and in a sligthly older building with some older tenants (pensioners). after all it was an authentic osaka experience to stay in nishinari.

I stayed 4 nights here, the location and service were very good, even though this place is in a quite scary area, the location of this hotel is directly opposite the police station, so it is very safe. What is quite disturbing is that there is no special floor for female guests, mostly here male guests, so if you are a woman you should be with your partner or friends, besides that it smells of urine when we pass in front of the men's toilet. but if you just want a bed or a place for your things and you don't want to sleep in a shared hostel, this hotel can be an option

Very cheap place. The toilets where barely tolerable, but the late check in, general room condition and overall experience where good! When I arrived late I woke my room neighbor, who had to cough quite violently afterwards, which hindered me from falling asleep quite a bit. Poor guy! But be aware, not the most quite or restful sleep I had.

This place is in a bad neighborhood that is known as the slums of Osaka. If you have seen any good pictures of this place? They are not always correct for all rooms and services. My problem is not that this place being old. It is not well maintained and does not try to be clean outside of rooms. There is rust on a lot of metallics and stains all over the place. They only have one shower for guests and need permission to use it. The heater pump constantly came on that made lots of noise. Nasty toilets that I'd rather use a mall's toilet. The only repairs I have seen are done by duct tape.
