I fall in love at first sight to the photo of the room with window perfectly facing the kamogawa river. Even though we didn't end up in that room (we got the one in the back) but our overall experience was very satisfying. First of all, let me inform you that the room was that small. Three girls with three huge luggage will need to be a lot of compromises, but it's not impossible at all. Despite how small the room, the soundproofing works wonderful. however, the powder area, bathroom, and toilets are wonderful! Great lighting, spacious, great amenities (bravo to the conditioner and hair iron that made my hair look smooth every day) The location is perfect, less than 5 min walking distance to the kamogawa river, starbucks, and 100yen shop (It is located on the underground station. Look for a Book-off store across the street, go down 2 levels, and you'll find Watts, a 100yen shop. You'll get everything you need here) At night, you can stroll around Gion. If you are looking for lively night entertainment, this place might be not for you, but if you are like me who looking for the beauty of Kyoto within the moon light and shadows you'll like it here. We even managed to see a real live geisha went home at one night. Such a magical beauty. Definitely will come back for the next trip. PS : the booking fee is not include the "kyoto tax" so please calculate this on your budget.

Excellent hotel to stay alone or with friends. Very secure for any nervous woman, and very cute set up! Everything was clean and the beds were comfy. Shared bathroom area also very clean, and had body and face soaps, shampoo and conditioner. Shared fridge and microwave as well by the elevator. Great location next to Sanjo station, with streets of shops and restaurants right across the bridge. You do hear/feel the trains rumble below, but it's not super loud. We stayed on the 2nd floor, so maybe ask to stay on the 3rd floor if that might bother you. Absolutely plan to stay here again when in Kyoto!

Nice location in the city which is handy to the train station and bus stops. The decor is very cute and they offer nice amenities in the powder room. Disliked: The cafe wasn't open for the duration of our stay! It was disappointing as being able to have coffee and breakfast at our accommodation was part of the reason we chose to stay here. The 4 person room that we were in also had curtainless windows which allowed the bright street lights outside to shine in. When we asked the staff about a solution the following day they had to think long and hard before eventually offering us some bath towels and tape to fix it ourselves. Beware that you can hear the trains passing through the station underneath. Lastly, our room (211) shared a wall with the powder room so we could hear people blow drying their hair until 23:00 which was way past the quiet hours.

The location was fantastic, with a lift directly from Sanjo station up to the hostel. I especially loved the crocs. The only downsider I'd say is that majority of things I would expect to be complementary are not free, like leaving your bags if you check out early. When you pay it just gets left in the front tied up to other bags with a cord. I would recommend it for a group of friends.

Even on a booking site, if you select “includes all fees and taxes” on your search criteria, you’ll check in and be asked to pay “Kyoto tax” apparently written on their site “someone”. When I asked the staff (in Japanese) why didn’t you just put it on the original bill, all I got was sorry. The room was nice and clean, but we only got one towel for two nights. We though the room was slightly overpriced, as even thought it was a hostel we paid nearly as much as a hotel.
