Look. You get what you pay for. The shower area isn't bad, there is a microwave and kettle you can use, but there's no fridge you can use, the common area absolutely reeks of cigarettes, and the capsules on the bottom you have to practically crawl in and out of. You also can't open the locker inside the capsule without pulling the mattress back which is incredibly frustrating. They do give you a robe and slippers as well as sheets and a body towel and hand towel so that's something. But if you're staying in the women's section it's a fourth floor walkup which is quite a hike with your luggage so be prepared, haha. Good luck.

I recently had a disappointing stay at the Block room hotel. I was not impressed with the overall experience and would not recommend it to others. One of the biggest issues I had with the hotel was that it was not 100% smoke-free. This made it uncomfortable for non-smokers like myself, and the poor ventilation only made matters worse. I found it difficult to breathe in the room, and the lack of proper lighting didn't help either. To make matters worse, the hotel did not have private bathrooms, and guests were forced to use communal bathrooms. This was not only inconvenient but also unhygienic, especially during these times of heightened concern about health and safety. Another issue I had with the hotel was the lack of kitchen utensils. As someone who enjoys cooking, I was disappointed to find that the hotel did not have the necessary tools for me to prepare meals in the kitchen area. Additionally, I found it frustrating that the hotel had strict check-out times. Guests were expected to check out by 10 am and could not return to their rooms until 4 pm, even if they had booked for multiple days. This policy seemed unreasonable, and I felt like I was being forced to pay a late check-out fee for no good reason. Overall, I would not recommend the Block room hotel to anyone. The lack of proper amenities and the inconvenient policies made my stay uncomfortable and frustrating

Disliked: 1. Unfortunately it is a smoking 🚬 building. I saw no reviews about this. The main common room by the counter is smoking, so it smells when you walk in. The female common area is smoking, and there is only a door separating the area from the rooms, so when it is busy, you are guaranteed to get smoke coming in every time someone opens the door. The bathrooms are also on the other side in the smoking area, so people have to open the door often. I could not breathe well at night due to the smell in the air and had to cover my head with the blanket and take cough drops (thankfully I had them). I am unfortunately very sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke. 2. There seem to be bed bugs. I have been traveling and I like to keep very clean, having to go through my bag every day. After checkout, staying only one night, I found a bed bug crawling on the outside of okmy bag. I quickly threw it down the toilet. If you do stay here, or any hostel/hotel, wash everything after leaving and check your things thoroughly. (It is always possible that I missed it and the bed bug came from my last hostel instead, since I only stayed one night at this block room, but bed bugs seem to be a common thing in these places and this area was not the best[near smoking bars, etc.] ) 3. It is noisy since it is a metal room, so there is no sound dampening, and things that could prevent noise were not used.for ex. Fabric stickers on the other side of the metal locker so they do not hit the metal wall and make noise. Thankfully this does not bother me since I always wear headphones to sleep. I recommend wearing headphones with white noise. Things I liked: 1. the staff is very nice. They seemed to accomodating, patient, and friendly. They allow you to drop off your bag before check in if necessary. Very sweet staff. 2. The items seemed clean. The blankets, Sheets, towels, etc. Were all clean and did not have an odor. The showers seemed clean and everything seemed clean. They even put an air purifier next to the door to the smoking common area, to try and prevent the odor of the smoke from lingering, which does help a lot. 3. They give you house slippers, a thin cotton bath robe, and towels with your stay. You also have a locker in your room with a key, which my bag fit inside of. You have to bend the bed to open the locker, since the bed blocks the door, but that is ok.

If you're alone, yeah sure you can visit that lodge. But if you have company.. it'll look embarrassing to use one of those capsules.
