The location was good. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The decor is interesting. Room was a bit too warm but we did okay with a packed fan as well. The biggest issue I had was the strong cigarette smell (I’m pretty allergic and it killed my sinuses during the stay) in the room. I was told it was from either the neighbor or from outside (we did not ever open our window).

An absolutely marvelous experience. Pity we could only stay one night. The rooms were so comfortable and tastefully decorated while maintaining the historical beauty of the palace. The original frescoes and wallpaper were just stunning. Really lovely thoughtful touches all around, from the crystal cut glassware and water by the bed, grappa for a nightcap, gold enamel coffee cups, carefully selected antique decor. I didn’t want to leave, I felt like a queen. Alexis was so flexible and kind, checked us in late, let us keep our things at the hotel after checkout so we could explore and have lunch. Thank you, Alexis - this is what hospitality in Italy should feel like.

Just as magical and romantic as the pictures look. This was an amazing stay at a boutique hotel. We knew the rooms would be great, but we weren’t expecting the communal feeling from the other guests during the free breakfast.

I stayed in Casa Santangelo along with my friend and it was one of the most unique places we have ever stayed in, it felt like we had been taken back in time. It is centrally located at the heart of Salerno and not far from the train station or ferry. The room was so beautifully decorated, clean and spacious and a book was provided with information on places to go and how to get around etc. Everything was perfect down to breakfast and how it was presented, it was a great experience. We didn’t get to meet the host Alexis in person but he was very responsive to us over text. I ended up forgetting an item in the accommodation and contacted him and he was so helpful and posted it back to me. He ensured all the details were correct before posting it back and showed that their attention to detail is not only with the rooms in Casa Santangelo but in how they can provide the best service and help for their guests. I would definitely stay again if I’m back in Salerno and would recommend it to anyone going there.

This is the most unique hotel I’ve ever stayed in- my friend and I both said it was like being in a museum- we awoke everyday looking at the frescoes on the ceiling- it is magical and the stay is unforgettable. We had the large family suite with 2 bathrooms and large windows that opened to the street below - the streets came alive at night and listening to everyone speaking Italian was so authentic! There are large beautiful window doors and large wood doors that cover the windows- we slept so well- the linens and pillows are wonderful. The restaurant recommendations were fantastic- we actually went to the same place twice. Our host Alex answered all our questions and gave us the history of the building. Salerno is a very special place- these rooms are one of a kind. Even the keys to the room and all the doors made you feel like you stepped back in time! From the minute I saw the pictures of the rooms I just knew we had to stay there. Thanks Alex- we will see you again!
