We stayed at the Clico Boutique Hotel this past weekend. Firstly I have to commend the staff on their lovely friendly disposition- we felt like nothing was too much trouble and they were very pleasant. The receptionist accommodated my room change request with efficiency. Unfortunately room 7 is situated next to the generator which becomes very loud during loadshedding and it was activated early hours of the morning which contributed to broken sleep (unfortunately the bathroom window does not close properly so you are unable to shut out the noise), my suggestion is to ask for a room away from the generator but given that we live in South Africa, I think most people are used to the sound of one. Other than that I found the room to be very comfortable. We had a dinner and a breakfast during our stay, the food was very tasty, the setting was lovely for a summer eve/and morning, sitting outside next to the pool. Parking can get a little crowded, so I wouldn't suggest staying here with a big 4x4 but an Uber ride in would suit or a small rental as we had. small bar fridge in room with complimentary waters, chocolate/pringles and drinks are for your bill. I would definitely stay at The Clico again- Thank you

This was one of the most delicious tasting menus in joburg. It was my birthday and everyone, including the SECURITY GUARD and every waiter knew that it was my birthday and all wished me a happy birthday. The tasting menu was honestly lovely. Super flavourful, well balanced and just perfectly paired with the wine. The salmon and pork belly was delicious…. And then… the frozen cheesecake was sublime. Sibusisu looked after us and he was friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and friendly. We didn’t want for anything. The restaurant was small and intimate and had no airs and graces. It isn’t big and loud, so makes for a great dining experience. An awesome selection of South African wines. I can’t wait to go back! What an amazing experience.

Except for the great rooms, fantastic food, the people made the stay. The staff at Clico are professional, friendly, welcoming, informative, neat, well dressed and well spoken. The breakfast is top notch, room facilities on par, soft bedding, safe parking, check in and out seamless.

We’ve been going to Clico for the last 8 years and have seen a significant decline on the place. The buildings are in need of repair, which seemed like was in progress during our stay.., although this is not being managed very well.., there was rubble in the courtyard, the workers arrived early in the morning and were talking very loud and woke us up.. The bed mattress was a bit tired as it sank.. The bedroom ceilings were stained from the shower steam, the shower divider was stained with scale and the sealant was poorly done and maintained.. The laminated floors look tired and are needing replacing. The service of the waitrons is also in question as the professional etiquette is lacking. The general appearance of the place is in decay. The restaurant food experience was also very poor.., the salmon starter was sent back as the fish I tasted a touch of decay.. We went for the Sirloin as we thought of this as a safe option, and we’re disappointed.., was tough, not grilled properly and tasted bland.. We’re very sorry that this place is in a poor state, as was one where we’ve had some past dear memories.
