        There are positive sides but my experience is rather negative. Indoor common areas are nice despite small. Outdoor areas are not well maintained. Worn or broken furniture and torn towels. There are two pools suitable for the kids but not for swimming. If you want to go to the beach you need to go to a public beach next to the hotel which is always crowded. We stayed in two rooms of different categories. Both had basics but one should not expect more than that. House keeping could not help the very strong bad smell from the bathroom or to clean the tails and bathroom furniture that should have been replaced long ago. Restaurant and food are OK. No one cares about the hotel rules. There were Russians drinking all day at the pool area despite the information board that this is strictly forbidden. There we Russians in the rooms next to ours. They were drinking and talking loudly and shouting every night till very late on the lawn in front of our rooms. Despite I went to reception every night asking to take care of that, the parties continued for 7 days. The usual reply was: please, talk to the manager tomorrow. So, I had to talk to the manager at 9 am the next day. At 2 pm we were moved to another room. The staff is not able to solve problems. At the check out four people at the reception could not explain us why the bill they presented us is for a different amount that the one confirmed by Booking. We had to wait 40 mins till a manager comes. I would not describe the staff as friendly, or welcoming, or efficient. Their attitude and approach is miles away from those of the staff of other hotels in Sri Lanka. I would not recommend this hotel.

        I've had lunch and drinks on the patio a number of times. Great food, brilliant location and super friendly survive. But WHY do they insist on randomly playing really bizarre music at top volume. Last time it was children's cartoons today it's trance music at 1.30pm. And it's at top volume with that side of the restaurant complete empty. Previously I've asked for it to be turned down this time I'll just leave which is a shame.

        Visited such a beautiful place after a long time. Convenient location, easy access to the beach, good food, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Amazing place for all sea lovers. Hotel has a good buffet, nice relaxing environment. Such a beautiful hotel with nice staff. We had a great time

        A really bad experience with Golden Sands Hotel. Hair in the bathroom when we checked in and stained towels. We were forced to pay for a Christmas dinner with the room, which was literally as much as the room rent, and the food was completely inedible, not one thing was good, ordered drinks and had to return them that’s how bad they were, there was hair in the pineapple and the guy cutting the pineapple was annoyed when my wife asked for another piece which btw also had a hair on it. Never coming again.

        Our second visit here.Very friendly staff, especially the restaurant manager Mr dhammika made us feel homely while having food with his little chats. Mr sumith (he helped in all small needs) our car was broken on the way to the hotel and he went to the car park got the help of a threeweel guy who to us to a garage. Everything was good, rooms were clean. Barbecue dinner buffet was great. We fed the fish in the beach. Please don't get deceived by the snorkeling people outside. They are very expensive and the ones very closer to the hotel don't show you much corals. If you are really interested talk the terms beforehand. Also the reception of the hotel should be more friendly and helpful.they were not very genuine in their hospitality. Dr Sampath pathirana and family.
