Pros: 1. Good location 2. Reasonable price 3. Complimentary snacks, drinks and ramen Cons: 1. Got one small elevator only. You gotta wait for a while especially during checkout time 2. The hotel only offers very limited time for baggage storage(check out time:11:00; baggage storage time: before 12:00).

Maybe one of the most low-budget and conservative construction Dorm Inn buildings in Tokyo. There are 12 floors. 10 of which have 12 rooms each, for about 120 rooms. All share 1 elevator, unfortunately. This caused a queue and waited for the elevator during busy hours. The walls seem thinner than normal. With such things as coughs from a neighbor, sounding more clearly than others. If you have stayed at a dormy inn previously, you know there are complimentary frozen snacks/ ice cream for when you finish your evening bath normally in a big freezer. While I have seen other dormy inns "top off" these snacks and maintain the selection, this location failed at this. This Dormy had a freezer completely empty when I took my bath at midnight and wanted some late night ice cream.

The room is much spacious and cozy than expected. There is English speaking staff with 24 hours front desk which is a plus. It is extremely close to Ueno Ameyoko, and you can enjoy shopping at very late at night. There is only 1 lift serving this hotel with 12 floors, you may need to wait sometimes during peak hours. Luckily, I don’t need to wait long during my stay. Please note that the reception is located on the second floor. The public bath is relatively small, which can serve maximum 3 people at the same time only. Fortunately, not much people using the bath during my stay. There are free noodles at 21:30-23:00, and also free drinks / ice bar outside the public bath, which is also a plus. There are two free laundry machines inside the public bath, and the dryer charges 100yen / 20mins. This is one of the attractives for me to choose DormyInn. The hotel is well located with 8mins walk to the Ueno station, and only 4mins walk to the Hibiya line - Naka-okachimachi Station.

The hotel has seen better days and could really use a makeover. The hotel is showing it's age and it's evident even from the outside that it needs some maintenance. The double room I booked was fairly spacious but the carpet was stained in a couple of places and the cleanliness could also be better. Under the bed I found a can of deodorant and a slipper, not to mention a heap of dust. I really liked the air-conditioner and the fact it's placement meant it wasn't hitting you directly when you're laying in bed. Be aware that they only have a single elevator in the whole building so make sure to leave early when in a hurry.

As with any Dormy Inn hotels, they offer good value. That being said, this hotel offers also a very good location for its price. The hotel is not new anymore but still "good to go". Dont expect luxury but if you want an affordable onsen hotel in tokyo with very good service: go for it.

Booking Policy

It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.

The primary guests check-in into the hotel must meet the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

If guests are traveling with a child or children, it is necessary to specify the number of children accompanying them during the hotel booking process to avoid any last-minute complications.

Underage guests are only allowed to check-in with at least one parent or official guardian who fulfils the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Early check-in or late check-out request is subject to availability and the hotel may charge an additional fee for providing such services.

After the booking is confirmed, user will need to cancel their existing booking to create a new one to make any changes such as updating the primary guest, modifying the number of guests, specifying the age of child/children, adjusting the number of rooms, or changing the check-in/check-out date and time etc.
