Due to my wonderful experience at the Hilton Resort in Okinawa, Japan, I decided to book the Double Tree hotel in Guangzhou of the Hilton brand this time. The overall quality of the room and facilities was not bad. However, the service aspect left me with a very unpleasant experience. During this trip, we also stayed at hotels belonging to the InterContinental and Marriott groups. In comparison to the services provided by these two, the stay at Double Tree Hotel in Guangzhou was even more disappointing, impacting my overall impression of the entire Hilton group.

Room size is of usual layout and size compared to the rest I have stayed. Came in about 2pm, and was told that room is not ready, suggest that we go for lunch as check in time is actually 3pm onwards, manage to check in with credit card as deposit payment. Left luggage in lobby so we could have lunch outside. Now that I read there is complimentary cookies given to some guest and it reminded me of the advertisement of their own television channel that the host was being offered of one. Not that i want it, but just feel unfair after knowing. Full glass panel between toilet and room, bind in toilet for privacy. Bathtub with built in television. Toilet have no bidet, so it’s a disappointment for me since I am used to having one in toilet. Complimentary bottle water, packet coffee and tea sachet are available. No small spoon available for stirring. There is hairdryer, iron, safe available. Service is average. Location is inconvenient, take about 30mins walk or 10mins drive to go to a more populated/tourist destination. Sadly, there is no food around that attracts me to eat daily. The food that each shop are selling are about the same, either dumpling, kampung chicken or roasted goose. No shopping areas nearby. Didn’t try the food in the hotel as food listed in menu doesn’t have a wide variety. Definitely not a good enough place for a Singaporean. ( didn’t research, so just have to blame on myself) Quiet place, easy to get cab.

Great value for money, with my point of reference being the Guangzhou Conrad. Only con being a bit of a walk from the Memorial Hall metro station, being two long blocks but all on paved roads. Diamond benefits readily recognized without prompting; room choice asked for by phone on the day prior.

Stayed 6 days at King One Bedroom Suite, 40th floor Everything about the room is good, but toilet no bidet and very noisy aircon. Concierge does not have multi extension cable. Breakfast buffet is extremely pathetic, one small counter and very few selection. Otherwise, room is clean and big, but could be better with a bidet. No amenties nor mall nearby. Was quite expensive as there was convention during my trip.
