Beware of hidden charges. Parking is $15 per day. WiFi is not free either. Breakfast is just a few muffins, granola bars and coffee (worthless). No dinnerware or kitchenware is provided. If you would like to check in a couple of hours early because your flight lands early. You will be ripped off extra by the hour. Wait till 3:00 PM to check in.

I had the absolute worst experience!!! I made an advanced purchase reservation on 3 Dec. for 9-10 December at the Extended Stay in San Diego located on Hotel Citcle. The funds were taken out on the 4th of December since this was an advanced purchase. I called the hotel and spoke to the front desk receptionist and informed them that I would be checking in late that day and was told no problem. I arrive to the hotel at around 9:40 pm to check in and the manager by the name of John J says he needs my license plate number and I must walk back to my vehicle to get it. I said I have it on my insurance card and he refuses to accept that and continues to tell me that I must physically walk outside to my vehicle and write it down. This made absolutely no sense but I sent my friend to go retrieve it while I checked in. John J told me that I would be charged $30 a day for parking. I questioned why because I have stayed at multiple Extended Stay Hotels throughout several cities such as Oceanside and Carlsbad and have never had to pay for parking. He told me that that is untrue and he just came from the Oceanside location which is clearly not the case because I stay at that particular hotel 2 times a month and have never paid for parking. He then asked for my credit card and ID and took a photo of it and then said that I never paid for the room and my card was flagged and he couldn’t check me in. I asked why my card was flagged and clearly informed him that the room had already been paid for and I had another credit card that I could use and he said that he was unable to check me in and couldn’t give me any information which I found very odd. I asked to speak to the supervisor and he said he was the supervisor so I asked to speak to his supervisor and he said he was unable to give me that information. Exhausted and tired from our trip my friend said that he could make a reservation and pay for the room in his name and John J said no that neither of us would be able to make a reservation or stay at any Extended Stay hotel due to the flagged card. This made absolutely no sense and I called another Extended Stay Hotel in Fashion Valley and the receptionist informed me that the Extended Stay hotel on Hotel Circle had just entered a DNR which is a DO NOT RENT. I was so frustrated because this person John J purposely did that and lied to me in my face all because I inquired about the fee for parking. John J refused to assist us or check us in. I personally felt I was a victim of discrimination for being a woman because the tone and level of unprofessionalism that John J used with me was totally unacceptable and when my friend inquired about the policy and issue he certainly didn’t use that tone with him but did also state that he didn’t have to explain the policy. Frustrated and exhausted after calling the emergency number which closes at 8:00 pm and was absolutely no help we decided it wasn’t worth the hassle and stress and chose to stay at the Holiday Inn. I will be filing a formal complaint against this particular employee and hotel. Extended Stay has lost my business forever and cannot believe that they treat military service members this way!
