Go Bcn Hostal Ideal Badal - Hostel

The hostel was about what you'd expect from a cheap city hostel, with adequate facilities. We stayed in a room for 3, and the beds were reasonably comfy. My only complaint was that the shower was lousy. It sprayed me with very hot water, and the room flooded and required me to use the plunger on the shower drain. The manager was very helpful and ensured we could get in late, as our flight was delayed.

If you wanted to book for a place to stay where amenities and shops are close by, excellent customer service and for affordable price, then Hostal Ideal Badal is an absolute favourite of mine to stay. Me and my fiancé have our trip to Barcelona after coming from Alicante; exhausted from our early journey as well as hot and bothered from the Spanish Heat, we have booked this and we did not expect less. We were actually quite impressed how polite and helpful the customer service are. Our check-in time is 2pm and we arrived in Barcelona Train Station around 10am; we gave them a call because we thought we are way too early to check-in, the man is very friendly and have spoken good English. As we only know basic Espanyol, we are very happy that the conversation just flowed quite well and he have told us that we can either drop our bags in the office (which is secure but I wouldn’t recommended it), and he have then agreed that we can check-in earlier than expected and either way we are happy as we do not want to walk around with our luggages. When we arrived, we have waited for the guy to come and although we have waited for 5mins or so, when the guy arrived he immediately apologised and asked if we needed drinks and made us comfortable by sitting on the sofa (in the office), he then made the forms swiftly and correctly and because we did not have enough cash to pay, he then told us that we can pay later on (and please do not abuse it when people are nice) then showed us our room with enthusiasm. The room I must say is quite clean with 9/10 and everything on the booking site is correct. Although this is a Hostel, me and my partner still booked a room with separate bathroom/toilet. We have 2 separate beds which we just pushed in and it worked alright. The floors are thoroughly cleaned tiles, fresh linens, fresh pillows and we have 360 view of the outside. I’m very well pleased as well because even though we are close to the road, we have slept well and did not hear any noises at all. There is Lidl shop for about 10mins walk opens 10am-9pm which is quite convenient and good for money as they sell cheap stuff, from fresh bakes, meats, seasonings, to toiletries. Now, if you live in London, Aldi and Lidl are so much alike and very affordable with good quality products. (If you’re in the budget then I suggest this is a good place to get bottled drinks, toiletries and what not) compared to other shops around Barcelona. Another 10mins walk you’ll find the Metro to go to Central Espanya (although you can walk it for another 25minutes, which me and fiancé did, with a nice weather and cold drinks, it should be fine) Whilst, it’s close to everything from little nice spanish corner shops and brilliant tapas places, I suggest you to have a pair of walking/running shoes as you do not want to be bothered by the walkings. That would be the last thing you wanted. Believe me, I have packed nice cute sandals and that did not went too well with blisters and it is not cute at all with the pain and moaning, you want to have a nice time with your partner/family or friends then pack a walking shoes and bring your sandals later on. Going back to the hostel; although when you book for the shared-bed rooms, you have to share the kitchen and toilets and main lounge, the fridges have numbers and only you can open it, (which is pretty normal for hostels) the staff are quite friendly and the rooms with bathrooms are quite clean although it needed a little renovation for my taste but overall 9/10. Deserves 5/5 stars!! Will go back and book here again.
