Golden Sea Pattaya Hotel

A well appointed hotel in the heart of Central Pattaya. Located off the busy main street of Soi Buakhao it is surprising that once in the hotel, and hotel grounds, one could be miles from the cities hubbub. It is relatively quite and tranquil, even in the outside areas. The rooms, at least the one I stayed in are on the large size, especially when compared to many other hotels in the area. The bathroom was a good size, with bath tub and overhead shower. The balcony again large. It was furnished with a table and two generously proportioned chairs but could have easily held two sunloungers aswell. Breakfast, if booked, is a self-service buffet of hot and cold foods. There is a wide selection to choose from. The hotel caters for a multi-national client base and this is reflected in the selection offered, but I am sure there is a large enough range to suit almost every palette. No other meals are offered. With a huge range of eateries, bars, and such establishments a literal stones throw from the hotel entrance there would be little point in them doing so. The hotel boasts two swimming pools and other guest facilities, all which were well maintained and kempt during my stay. A negative is the staff are not guest centric. During my stay the staff seemed rather uninterested in communicating with their guests at any point, or at any level, besides the necessary administrative tasks. This was not a communication issue. I speak a little Thai, my wife is Thai... thus a native speaker. Improvement, at all levels and in all departments in the guest relations area is a must in my opinion. Would I recommend staying here. Yes, if you want to be Central to Pattaya mayhem, but have a secluded retreat... and if you are staying for no longer than two weeks.

We booked this hotel for 3 weeks after looking at the pictures online and reading reviews. Once we arrived it was clear to see the pictures were taken a long time ago. The hotel is generally tired throughout, and a little dirty sad to say. We had to ask to change room, which is a first time for us, but there was no way we could have spent three weeks in that room. Bathrooms need refurbished most of all, dirty old shower curtain is not nice. Food is very basic and not well cooked. We have stopped going for breakfast now as we are struggling to enjoy anything there. The cleaning staff are lovely! However reception seem to have an attitude. When arriving the first thing they tell you to do is read the list of rules for the hotel- not very friendly a welcome… Walls are thin so you can hear everything from rooms next to you- and we have a group of guys staying either side of us blasting their tv at 5am and fighting in the hall wall, slamming doors and smoking inside the room with the door open so it stinks in the hall of smoke and weed. We still have over a week to go of our stay and I am not enjoying being in our room one bit… How this hotel got 4 stars I have no idea but sorry I am never coming back here and have already told all my friends who come to Pattaya never to try here.
