Me and my husband spent one night at this ryokan during our honeymoon in Japan. It was so relaxing and romantic. The staff is nice and professional, the interior is beautiful and the food is great (even tough our western palette had difficulty processing some of the things served). We highly recommend this place and wish we could go back!

I'm really torn about how to rate this Ryokan! This was the splurge night on our recent trip to Japan. We chose this ryokan for the included dinner & the open air onsen. The onsen was beautiful but the view in the pics is a bit deceiving; it overlooks the roofs and parking lots of the town. Not as idyllic as pics make it seem (& not really that private!). I agree with other posters that the food felt a bit... less than fresh. Even my husband who does not care about food whatsoever mentioned that it tasted a bit "trucked in from a warehouse" (to use his terminology). the rooms were very nicely appointed & the tatami was extremely comfortable to sleep on! I would suggest to the hotel that they consider setting up the tatamis for arrival; while I'm sure part of the magic is leaving for dinner & coming back to a transformed room, we were exhausted and would have loved to take a nap. Ultimately considering that breakfast & dinner were included for 2 people & factoring in the open-air onsen I think the price was fair, but I would consider this more of a 3-3.5 star experience than 5.

What an amazing experience! The food, private onsen all trip highlights! It's a 10-minute walk from the station. However, keep in mind it's a steep uphill climb, but in business hours, there are taxis and buses available. Really recommend a stay here to relax and recharge.

We stayed at Hakone Airu for one night as we were exploring Hakone. We were looking for a ryoken experience with a private onsen, excellent service, and a great view. I would highly recommend Hakone Airu. Location: it's 10-15 minutes away from the train stations which makes it very accessible. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel is on top of a very steep hill. We knew this ahead of time and only brought backpacks. I would say that lugging a suitcase to the hotel would be very tough. There are shuttle buses available for 100jpy, which I would recommend for those who aren't inclined to walk up the hill. Rooms: We got a room on the fourth floor and it exceeded our expectations. The room space was very large and seat up as a sitting area when we arrived. There was a separate area for the toilets vs shower vs sinks. The powder area and showet had lots of additional items for you to use. The balcony and onsen was fabulous! The onsen was very hot (similar to a Western hot tub) and incredibly relaxing. In traditional ryokens, you would expect to be sleeping on a thin mat on the floor. While we were away at dinner, the staff came by to set up the bed. The mattresses were thick and comfy while the blankets were fluffy and warm. We had a great night's sleep (especially after soaking in the onsen again). The rooms all over a lushious view of greenery on a mountain. Food: The food was a unique experience in the sense that it's very different from restaurants. You are served meals in a private eating area and the staff bring you each of the courses. They serve many small dishes that allow you to try various flavours and ingredients, ranging from sashimi, grilled beef, soups, and fruit. There are two selections for breakfast, either Western or Japanese. We went with Japanese and again, lots of small dishes to try out. From both meals, we were extremely full and happy! Other comments: Like someone else mentioned, we didn't see a Japanese employee during our entire stay. I personally think that the experience was a mix between traditional Japanese and Bali luxury (theme of the hotel) so it didn't bother me. We specifically wanted a private onsen and a comfy night's rest, and we got everything and more.

Disappointed had read so much about the place. I didn’t really find the staff accommodating or helpful. Maybe it was the language barrier. The onsen was lovely but found the rest was very much like a youth hostel. Being shown plastic cards with rules and instructions was beyond weird. Charges for glasses, it just seemed very much run like a youth hostel. As the most expensive place on our trip I’m just disappointed. I read responses by management where other people complained and think maybe they should take on board what people are saying. I will def be back to gorgeous Hakone but would look for alternative lodgings.

Booking Policy

It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.

The primary guests check-in into the hotel must meet the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Extra guests are subject to availability. And it might incur additional charges.

If guests are traveling with a child or children, it is necessary to specify the number of children accompanying them during the hotel booking process to avoid any last-minute complications.

Underage guests are only allowed to check-in with at least one parent or official guardian who fulfils the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Early check-in or late check-out request is subject to availability and the hotel may charge an additional fee for providing such services.

The price paid to Adani One includes room charges, taxes, the specified inclusions mentioned during the booking and convenience fee, if appliable. It does not cover additional services and expenses at the hotel.

Taxes, levies, charges, and any similar government fees, if applicable, will be imposed by the relevant authorities in the jurisdiction where the hotel is located. The guest is responsible for paying all such charges, as applicable.

Guests are required to adhere to any special instructions provided by the hotel. Failure to comply may result in the hotel's right to deny the booking or terminate the stay immediately.

Hotel Cancellation Policy

User can cancel their booking through the Adani One website or app until the check-in date and time. The refund for such cancellations will be subject to the hotel's cancellation policy. Adani One has no say over the refund amount.

Users can only cancel the entire booking. Partial cancellations, such as canceling specific room(s), a portion of the total nights, or specific guests out of the entire group, are not permitted.

User should not cancel the booking directly with the hotel. If a user cancels the booking directly with the hotel, Adani One will not be responsible for any refund.

Cancellation requests made through the online platform or via phone calls are the only valid and accepted methods.

Any cancellation requests made directly to the hotel will not be the responsibility of Adani One.

If you fail to cancel your reservation within the designated cancellation period, as specified by the hotel you booked, you will be responsible for paying the applicable nightly rates, tax recovery charges, and service fees imposed by the hotel. If you do not show up for the first night of your reservation but still plan to check in for the remaining nights, you must inform Adani One of any changes to your reservation no later than the scheduled arrival date for the first night. This is necessary to prevent the cancellation of your entire reservation.

In case of no show at the hotel, you'll be charged the entire booking amount.

Modification and Reschedule Policy

Once the booking is initiated, the user can’t change the name of primary guest, number of guests, age of child/children, number of rooms, and check-in/check-out date and time.

After the booking is confirmed, user will need to cancel their existing booking to create a new one to make any changes such as updating the primary guest, modifying the number of guests, specifying the age of child/children, adjusting the number of rooms, or changing the check-in/check-out date and time etc.
