        A great place to experience Ryokan right at the centre of Kyoto city. Front counter staff is English speaking n are customer service oriented. Replies are prompt too when we asked prior to our check-time time if we could deposit out bags earlier. Place mimics what a traditional Japanese home stay truly feels like. Dinner served is plentiful n delicious (how I wish I could finish them all). Do give them a try :)

        The best part is really the walkability. It's super close to the Kyoto station which can be taken by JR rail pass. It's not super close to the temples and shrines but that made it so much easier to get to because there are no huge crowds. The rooms were not super fancy and the personal baths are super basic. I recommend booking the dinner/breakfast (I ended up doing both and it was the most amazing experience). For the dinner you can book a slot you want from 6~7:30 (I think..) and it was something similar with breakfast so you can plan your activities around that.

        Great place for a ryokan experience near Kyoto station. There are English speaking staffs, and even those who didn’t were nice and attentive. Nothing fancy or luxurious, but feel friendly like visiting a family house. Dinner was very big portion with a lot of dishes, in fact I think most didn’t finish it from what I observed. Taste is not special but some things were better than others. Breakfast seems to taste better imo, lighter and balanced. In general recommended if you want a ryokan experience with affordable price.

        Overall, a perfect experience! 1. Room & Bedding The provided futon was so fluffy and warm! Just like your own personal sleeping cloud. The room was a traditional japanese room with authentic tatami. Felt like if I was transported back in time! 2. Dinner & Breakfast Since we chose the halfboard plan, dinner and breakfast was provided. Dinner was served in kaiseki style, with individually cooked rice & condiments. The fish (I think Tai?) nimono and sukiyaki (which I think was made with high-grade wagyu) were both heavenly. The fugu karaage and other condiments were also great as well. Breakfast was also in traditional japanese style, with all condiments having their own special place. To note were the grilled salmon, tofu and the matcha pudding! Coffee and occha were also provided. Rice was perfectly cooked, with refills available should you need them. 3. Luggage & Hospitality Hifumi ryokan happily stores your luggage for you before and after checkin and checkout! This is a lifesaver in Kyoto in where otherwise you would have to drag all that luggage with you in cramped buses. In terms of hospitality, I think this ryokan displays the hallmark of Japanese otemonashi. The okami-san is very kind, explaining everything about your dinner options to where you can have a bath. All the staff members are also held to a high standard similar to that of the okami-san. Overall, I think this ryokan is a must if you ever decide to visit Kyoto.         Best location for a Ryokan in Kyoto. Easy walk to the main Kyoto Train Station, a nearby FamilyMart, and a few Restaurants! Food is absolutely phenomenal and shouldn’t be missed! Staff is very hospitable and will try their best to help you if you don’t speak Japanese. I will go here next time!!

          Booking Policy
          It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.
