Hotel Atlantic Palace

This hotel is in the busiest part of Firenze! Steps from the entrance is a narrow sidewalk and a street busy with non stop traffic. 50ft to the right of the main entrance a flea market where you get accosted by foreigners who are trying to get you to buy leather bags, belts, t shirts, trinkets, etc. You have to walk thru that flea market to get to some restaurants to have a coffee or a beer close to that hotel if you don't want to cross the busy street. Once inside the hotel, it looks good, but then you go up to your room. They don't tell you that your key card must be inserted into the wall to activate the appliances in your room like the lights, TV and outlets. Now you know if you read this review. Our rooms were kept at 23°C the first night, so unbearably hot we couldn't sleep, we couldn't keep the windows open either because they opened up into the nearby flea market which is so loud it would've kept us up. The beds are so hard it's like lying on a stack of plywood, the pillows are foam. There's mold in the showers. When we complained about the temperatures in the rooms they gave us floor fans. The best part about this hotel was leaving, the train station is within walking distance. Think twice before you book here.

Location wasn’t bad. It was located near many restaurants and shops in walking distance. Noisy at night which didn’t bother us but may bother others. Very small shower. You could barely turn in there. Rooms are super old but were clean for the most part. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. It was disgustingly hot. At night the staff must turn the air off. Every night we woke up sweating. Very uncomfortable. Do not stay here if you like sleeping in a nice air conditioned room. Also, THE HOUSEKEEPER STOLE MY CIGARETTES FROM MY LUGGAGE. When I say housekeeper, I mean the guy who just comes in to make the bed and change towels. I didn’t notice until the morning we checked out when getting my bag together. I left my luggage open and my cigarette pack was visible, which I should be able to do without worrying about staff stealing. When we checked out, I mentioned it to the front desk but our taxi was in front so we had to leave. The fridge also didn’t get cold at all, it was literally a warm refrigerator. The breakfast was gross and you’re also eating in a non air conditioned room which is super uncomfortable. I would never stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Spend the extra $ and stay elsewhere. The only reason this place is getting 2 stars is because the beds were decent and there were no bugs that I saw.
