Receptionist didnt speak english and was slow. No help carrying bags when arriving. Rooms dont have matching bedside tables, shower curtain rail is dirty. Mini market not open when it says it would be. Breakfast had dirty knives and forks, food was average. No sign to tell cleaning stuff not to come so we had to ask them not to because we were checking out that morning, they still came and knocked, quite disappointing. Good location in center of city, air conditioner works well, tv very good. Overall low effort, good location.

We were in Santaigo for a few days and booked a room here. We’ve stayed at budget hotels around the world, so our expectations weren’t super high. We figured if it was clean and safe, it would be a good value for the price. It barely met those expectations. Others have mentioned a bad experience with check in, but ours went smoothly. The room was clean but the bedding had an odd (kind of musty) smell, so we kept the window open. The bathroom was clean, but we only had one hand towel and one bath towel. I’m sure we could have gotten another from the front desk but we had our own so not a big deal. There was no “do not disturb” sign so when we returned the room had been cleaned. Another not a big deal, but I’d rather no one enters my room when I’m not there (there was a safe if we wanted to use it). The two big negatives - (1) the music at night coming from the dance studio (30 second snippets of the same song played over and over again) was unnecessarily loud (my kids danced, they didn’t need music that loud) and (2) the breakfast area is so massive and cold they had to use a propane space heater, which was totally ineffective (people were wearing their hat and jacket, and even a few wore gloves). The area around the hotel is run down and there aren’t a lot of things nearby, but we walked back late each night and never felt unsafe. All the action is at the other end of Santo Domingo Street in the “lBarrio Italia” section, and as you walk back towards the hotel you see fewer and fewer people. We didn’t take any pictures but used those from the hotel’s site to comment.

Very dirty room, as you can see by the photos. The room doesn’t match the photos of the hotel site or booking. It was extremely sad to be in this hotel. The breakfast was also weak. The day after I arrived, I asked for an early breakfast because I was going on a tour. They gave me a sandwich, a juice and an orange. That’s all. We needed to ask to change the bed sheets because there were stain on it. They changed it and still having stains. I don’t recommend this hotel if you want to rest. You will listen everything of the other rooms as they have thin walls. Being so, this is my experience and I wanted to share it because it was a huge mistake for me to be in this hotel so many nights.

Without doubt or exaggeration the worst check in experience of any hotel, anywhere in the world. On arrival we were told to wait because the receptionist was dealing with another guest. This guest was not present. Ten minutes later she returned, apparently after leaving to get money. What followed was her tediously slow payment process, including going in and out of the hotel at least twice more. The receptionist never offered to check us in in-between. It was 25 minutes before we were dealt with, also excruciatingly slowly. At no point were we offered a seat, a drink or an apology. The hotel itself is impossible to describe. It feels like a poor reproduction of the hotel in the pictures. It's in a fairly dingy back street. The lobby and breakfast area is massive and eerie with the feel of a disused government building. The room did not look like the photos: it was much more dated with an unusual mix of furniture and old curtains. The bed and bedding were mostly clean apart from a stain. Walls are thin and a gym in the same building is noisy. Housekeeping procedures were baffling: - the bed throw we had removed was taken and a new, dirty one placed on the bed - 2 pillow protectors were replaced with children's cartoon pillowcases - perfectly good toiletries were thrown away - the bathmat had been taken and not replaced and the hand towel had been draped over the back of the toilet. There was no 'do not disturb' sign. Breakfast was mediocre and not replenished quickly.
