Hotel Cristo Rei

Thank you to all the staff at the Hotel for the hospitality and service. The room was wonderfully decorated, it´s right in the centre on Porto, walking distance to all the places I wanted to visit, so considering the budget and location, it was far more than I was expecting. They dont serve breakfast, but for the price, they dont have to, because its just 5 minutes walk from all the nice coffee shops and food markets in Porto...so, honestly, if you planning on travelling to Porto, which is a beautifull destination in itself, being so central to everything was really ideal. I recomend it, and I dont often post reviews on Hotels, unless they are really bad, that I want to complain. No complaints here, its not the Ritz, but for the price, I dont couldnt expect much better!

Illegal. Criminal. A farse, a lie, a scam. We were horrified. A truly delapidated fake house of horrors from beginning to end. A joke. Dies ein „Hotel“ zu nennen, ist ein schlechter Scherz. Es gibt mehr illegale „Mieter“ als tatsächliche Gäste. Sollte nicht geöffnetffen sein. Eine Lüge, ein grosser Betrug. Bedauerlich, heruntergekommen, unregelmässig, eine Zumutung, eine Lüge. Hier ist nichts legal, vom Anfang und Eingang bis zum Ende und Ausgang. Muss und wird geschlossen werden. Das ist nicht gestattet. Just check out the corroborating content of countless horrified and horrible reviews both on Booking and here on Google supporting and giving a general well-substantiated idea of this moldy derelict. A police matter, effectively. For many different reasons. They'll act soon enough. Nothing is legal, let alone up to basic hygiene, working, health, accommodation, pricing standards and trying to overcompensate with excessive kindness in the chaotic check-in and pretending to know languages you can't speak with a few words and sentences memorized over a decade and a half doesn't cut it or compensate the disastrous conditions and ominous environment and activities practiced here daily. Some are irregular, others are criminal. A pure complete scam for tourists taking advantage of the city's reputation and demand, and in the low season mostly living off of marginal side-"businesses". But the illegality is all year round, mind you. Every day. It's the joke of the street and the neighborhood, and its local fame among the locals speaks also for itself, regarding of how accurate it actually is in the details and awful, unacceptable characteristics of this zoo/jungle pretending to be a hotel and grossly profiting from that status. PS: I'm absolutely sure that any and all the few positive reviews on Booking and Google (except maybe for the apparent deceiving oversympathy and over kindness of the receivers/"receptionists") were either paid for, begged for or exchanged for some favour, or indeed done by the "tennants/workers" themselves.
