        Room was very clean. Bed comfortable. Quiet even though our room was right next to the elevator. Good quality amenities. High-tech toilet - the lid lifted up every time it sensed movement in front of it, and a gazillion bidet functions. Attentive front desk. A shout-out to the gentleman who managed the breakfast area. We stayed there for a few days. My SO requested decaf coffee the first couple of days. Afterward, the staff recognized him and automatically prepared him decaf coffee as soon as he saw us walking in! The breakfast was a mix of western and Chinese fare. Good selection and delicious. Will stay at Eclat again the next time we visit Taipei.

        If you have the Hyatt membership, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel because 1) the pricing from Hyatt is higher than booking from other websites at Google. The price is almost the same as the Grant Hyatt. I would just recommend people go straight to the Grand Hyatt. 2) it doesn’t belong to Hyatt, so even if I have the highest membership (Globalist) from Hyatt, I didn’t get room upgrade and the late checkout is only extended to 1pm. 3) when the front desk explained to me why I couldn’t get upgrade or 4pm late checkout, he’s not patient (unlike people from other Hyatt hotels). I feel he doesn’t think I should even ask at all. Overall, I don’t feel welcomed. 4) there’s no hair dryer. 5) a weird sound from the ceiling constantly annoyed me the whole night, which makes me couldn’t fall asleep. 6) the parking is not available from 10pm to 7am, so if you check in late, you won’t get parking lot. It’s not easy to find parking lot nearby and the front desk wouldn’t provide suggestions.

        We recently had a stay at Hotel Éclat Taipei, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Below is a detailed account of the various issues we encountered: 1. Parking and Direction Issues: The lack of clear directions from the receptionist upon our arrival created a hazardous situation, with instructions to reverse into heavy traffic on the main street to access the garage. When inquiring about retrieving the car, the check-in lady's response was dismissive, stating, "Of course, you should drive it yourself; nobody here can help the guest with this." 2. Condescending Attitude Toward Guests: The check-in lady displayed a condescending attitude, making inappropriate remarks about our status as Asian guests. She mentioned that Western guests always have chauffeurs and that we were lucky to find a parking spot. When questioned about the availability of parking, she insisted that if the 10 spots were occupied, we had to find paid parking on our own, stating condescendingly, "Just so you know, in our Taipei, everybody pays for parking." 3. Unpleasant Room Conditions (Room 708): The initially assigned room (708) had a pungent moldy smell, accompanied by a loud dehumidifier, causing discomfort and sneezing. 4. Injury Due to Room Defect: After switching to room 808, my wife sustained an injury scratching her hand on the thorn of the very old door of room 708. 5. Neglected Room Maintenance (Room 808): Room 808 exhibited numerous issues, including peeling wallpaper, rust in the restroom, a curtain with cigarette burns, and a faucet almost falling out. The Dyson hair dryer box had white mold stains, and the handle was sticky. Hotel staff claimed these were unavoidable due to the hotel's age. 6. Fake Branding of Amenities: Shampoo, lotion, and conditioner were falsely labeled as Penhaligon's brand. Stationery items claimed to be Montblanc, and the wall speaker labeled as B&O were all counterfeit. 7. Misleading Information About Minibar: The check-in lady proudly informed us that the minibar was entirely free, but it only contained a few sugary sodas and water. A sign indicated a charge for refilling the Nespresso pods. 8. Pathetic Breakfast Quality: The breakfast offered was of low quality, with stale pastries and dishes that led to gastroenteritis-like symptoms after consumption. We refrained from trying it again for the remainder of our stay. 9. Discrepancy in Booking Rates: Despite booking through Hyatt at a rate of 8000-8700 NTD per night, we discovered significantly lower rates on other websites, ranging from 5000-6000 NTD per night. 10. Misinformation About Hyatt Collaboration: The hotel receptionist admitted a misconception about the hotel's affiliation with Hyatt, stating they collaborate with Small Luxury Hotels and do not offer benefits associated with Hyatt status. The exact words were, "Many people have mistaken that we belong to Hyatt; we actually collaborate with [Small Luxury Hotel], which is just a partnership with Hyatt. Hence, unfortunately, you won't get any benefit from your Hyatt status." Our overall experience was marred by these issues, and we feel it is essential to share our disappointment with fellow travelers. We hope that the hotel management takes these concerns seriously and works towards improving the quality of service and facilities provided to guests.

        Worse stay ever!!!! Charge for 3rd person stay for all my 5 nights booking. Given us the smallest room which cannot even add any extra bed…. Everyday have to call and request for the 3rd towels and bathing items.. and even got questions by the front desk… “the housekeeper did not replenish the towel and bathing items in the room??? There is 1 day, housekeeping did not even clean our room after we turn on the “house keeping switch from room” When delivering extra 3rd towels… they still bring only 1 set of bathing items for 3 adults to used for the little tiny bottle of bathing gel and shampoo…. ??? One of the days, my girl was not feeling well so she slept in the room. There was an old cleaning lady trying her best to make sure she clean up the room even though already passed the room cleaning hours. And the night shift lady staff from the cafe remembering us and welcome us back every night at the entrance door

        This hotel obviously tries to make itself elegant and unique, but it needs lots of improvement to reach the goal. However, the chef who prepared breakfast did a fantastic job. The lady who was in charge of the front desk when I got my stored luggages in the evening of October 28, 2023, was very nice and helpful. I believe most of her colleagues have to learn from her to properly offer good services to their guests. By the way, the location of this hotel in Taipei is just great. It is very convenient to get to many places when you visit Taipei. Many beautiful trees on Dunhua South Road give this hotel wonderful window views.
