        The good: easy location to walk to the royal palace and to the Metro (assuming the metro ticket kiosks were working - they weren’t when we visited). The room was quiet despite being in a very busy area. Also, there’s an excellent French bakery within a 7-8 minute walk. The not-so-good: the bed was rock hard and the pillows were the firmest of any hotel I’ve ever stayed in (and we travel a lot). I asked if we could get softer pillows and they brought more of the same. The first night the room was super hot despite us confirming it was set to AC and turning the temperature way down. Turns out there’s a separate power button for the AC/heat and if you don’t know to turn it on, it doesn’t work. We’ve never seen that before either. Overall, it was clean but not comfortable. Would not stay there again. The bad: we had an urgent package shipped to us and had confirmation of delivery the day we arrived. The girl working the desk looked for 15 minutes and insisted it was not there even after checking offices and the luggage room. Ten minutes after we got to our room someone else came up with the package and said it was “sitting on a table”. It was a large mustard yellow overnight envelope marked “URGENT URGENT MADRID” and had our name on it. Not sure how she couldn’t find it but it caused a bit of panic and undue stress, and girl at the desk did not seem to care much.

        OMG this hotel is the best! We came here to celebrate 🍾 my husband's birthday weekend and 15 minutes after we settled into our room, they knocked on our door and handed him a piece of chocolate birthday 🎂 cake. How kind! Now that's 4 star service! It's the attentiveness for meeeee. 😄 Also, this is the cleanest hotel I've been in. And I mean I spot every nasty hair and mold spot in hotels all the time. Their cleaning staff is seriously top notch! 👏🏽 The staff overall is super nice and helpful. The bed is so comfy and there are clean towels, robes, and slippers (single use). The room is also a great size for a couple. I'm so coming back here. Oh! And it smells great! Lol 😆

        My fiancé and I stayed at Hotel Indigo Madrid - Gran Via last week for two nights. The lobby always appeared clean and tidy and there is a pleasant scent too. Check-in was a breeze and I believe it was Carolina who did so. We had been having trouble booking tickets to the Palace. Even the staff at our previous hotel in Barcelona was not able to help, but Carolina was able to book us tickets, and for the same day we checked in too! After lunch, we came back to find a slice of chocolate cake and a set of cutlery next to it. We were confused, as this was a first in all of the places we’ve stayed at, but a quick call to reception confirmed we received courtesy cake. What a nice surprise! FYI, it was rich and delicious. We had an issue with the ventilation in our room. The AC was on and we were not able to increase the temperature. Before we left for the Palace, we stopped by the reception desk. I didn’t catch this employee’s name, unfortunately, but she explained that only staff was able to turn the AC or heat on/off. Guests can control the temperature, but only if one or the other is on. This explained why cold air kept coming out of the vent despite our attempts to increase the temperature. She turned the AC off and the heat on for us, but later that night, we saw the AC symbol again. A quick call got me to the same person who helped us the first time (so I really regret not getting her name) and she was able to help us again and made a note for her colleague who’d be coming in for the night shift. I have never had so much interaction with hotel employees before. It’s usually a “hello” at check in and a “goodbye” at checkout and a variation of greetings coming in and out during our stay, but I am very grateful for the employees who provided excelled support and service when we needed clarification and assistance. Other things to note: the hotel is conveniently located within a 7-10 min walk of the palace and 2-3 min walk to El Cortes Ingles (the second location is a few more minutes from the one pictured). The entrance is on a side street so even though we were in a busy populated area, it didn’t feel that way. We also got breakfast one of the mornings (18 euros pp) and it includes access to a buffet + hot food. My fiancé and I ordered pancakes and the Spanish omelette in addition to the foods at the buffet. The scrambled eggs reminded me of home (US), honeydew was particularly sweet, and I was able to get my tea fix so personally it was worth the price. Not to mention, the employees were quick to replace food items and one of them even grabbed EIGHT wine glasses - 6 in one hand, 2 in the other (assumed he needed to replace glasses elsewhere or a large party showed up to breakfast on the other side). I could never do that so it was pretty amazing to see. All in all, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you Hotel Indigo!! ❤️

        Our room clearly had water damage. The floor boards were all separate and shifting. Elevators are slow. Our shower had balls of pubic hair in the corner. Its not very clean. Also the walls are paper thin. You can hear the toilet being flushed from the room above and people moving about their rooms around you.

        Great location but sadly the experience was very bad. On my first day I was given a room on a floor where the airconditioning was not working. What was frustrating was that the staff knew this and only addressed moving my room when I asked about the aircon. I was moved to another floor and room was good and aircon working. But that evening I ordered a hamburger and it came raw. Thought that was the end of it but on the day I left I woke up at 6 am with the sound of water dripping and there was a large puddle on the bathroom floor and water leaking from the lights. I called reception and they didn’t really know what to do and also didn’t address it with urgency given the safety hazard. So because of this last thing I sadly cannot give the hotel or staff a good review. Staff are very polite but don’t seem to be able to handle problems and in this case they were casual about the problem until I pointed out that this was a safety issue for their guests. They also couldn’t get me a temporary room so I could get ready so I did this in the dark because I couldn’t risk switching lights on with a water leak going through lights. They did reimburse one night and tried to make it up. I would be concerned about the safety of this hotel given these issues and ability to address so while I really like the location and the rooms I don’t think I’ll be staying here again.
