Rooms are very old, like out of the 70s...but it's consistent w/ the price point. I had a nice view of the mountains. I had a difficult time communicating w/ front office staff since they didn't speak English that well. Extensive breakfast buffet w/ large selection of pastries, meats, etc. Some items were unique to me and I had no idea what they were. Centrally located, lots of restaurants close by. If you're not looking for lux accommodations, give this place a try.

One of the oldest and very 1st hotel build in Almaty... No worries it's established and refurbished brand new now... The tallest hotel building here in Almaty and rank number 3 for the tallest building in Almaty with 26 floor. Very professional service and staff. Good place to stay. Convenient and sophisticated. Cozy and super clean room. I love their washroom in each rooms since it finishing with heated tiles.....especially on my winter tour here. Good hotel amenities in a room. Selection of tea and coffee too. No iron but you may asked if you required one. Each room with window... At different view.. Mine facing the university and main road while others can see beautiful mountains and Kok Tobe. The building easily to be spotted as the top of the building with the crown. Good restaurant I can say. Served good food and hot meals by chefs on duty. Selection of coffee and hot chocolate at the machine for bfast too. Huge lobby for a big b group check in. Meeting room facilities. Souvenirs shop at the lobby area. Saloon too. It's really convenient staying here in this hotel. Most importantly friendly and very helpful staff mashed it a different. Will absolutely recommend this hotel and will stay here again in future.

I cannot comment on the rooms but we hung out in the mezzanine cafe for a few hours before heading to the airport and watched people. Amazing lobby. Great soviet study grand hotel. Friendly staff. No+one begrudged us sitting and nursing a pot of tea.

We booked this hotel online with two rooms from India and when we reached the reception they said there is no hotel booking. We showed all booking & advance payment details then they allowed for 2 rooms. Rooms conditions was not good, we came back and asked to change rooms. A gentle girl understood and changed our rooms finally. That 1st impression is responsible for lower rating because of the Reception Staff (Man). We checked In 23/10/2023 @ 6:00pm.
