Hotel Riu Plaza London Victoria

I'm currently staying at the Riu Plaza London Victoria and I've got to say, while its location is spot-on and the facilities are decent, the guest service really takes away from the experience. Right from check-in, it was clear that friendliness isn't a strong suit here. Case in point: asking for a room key, a few minutes ago, felt like a bother to the staff, who seemed pretty annoyed. It's a bummer because the hotel's right in the middle of everything and the rooms are okay, but the vibe from the staff just doesn't make you feel welcome. It kinda puts a damper on what could have been a great stay in the heart of London.

Stayed at the Riu Plaza London Victoria first week of October 2023. The rooms lack some washroom amenities - like shower caps, enough body lotion, enough soap bars etc. Just something small I expected but the hotel provided them after a phone call anyway. The rooms have interesting views - ours was a deluxe and it faced the maintenance pipes/area outside. The most interesting part was the room doors do not have an internal bolt of any kind - means the staff can come in when you're inside. This happened a few times that we were inside and housekeeping knocked and when I said we're in here - they still barged in. The funniest part was when we left a chocolate bar in our hotel room - we came back to see it was half eaten. When we reported this, the front desk staff was just as horrified as us. The hotel overall is pretty clean but for the price/stars/name you'd expect the inside to feel less sterile/hospital-like. A bit creepy in some ways. Mediocre experience but might make sense for the price/discount they're giving right now. The breakfast is what makes the stars go up! It was big and tasted amazing. 50/50 if I'd return and stay here but I will definitely look at other options first. Area was okay.
