        The hotel itself is very old, but the rooms have recently been updated. The room was quite small but clean. It had a king sized bed, night stand, desk, wall-mounted television, and an area to hand clothes. The bed, a Sealy Perfect Sleeper, was super comfortable. This was the first hotel I've ever stayed in that didn't have carpet and I love that it made the room feel so much cleaner than any other room I've stayed in. When we first arrived, our room didn't have shampoo, conditioner, or wash clothes. As soon as we made the front desk aware, they remedied that. On the desk was a standard hotel room pod coffee maker, disposable cups, and packs of sugar, non-dairy powdered creamer, and pink sugar substitute. The rooms are too small to include a mini fridge/microwave. (This is the only reason I took 1 star away because I love bringing leftovers back to my room and snacking all night long.) As with all hotel air conditioners, it sounded like a jet taking off whenever it turned on, but it worked very well. There is a coffee shop in the lobby. We never tried it because we were meeting people for breakfast every day we were there. The restaurant in the lobby was never open while we were there. The location of the hotel is perfect! It's within, to me, walking distance of museums, Navy Pier, the Mag Mile, the River Walk, the Water Tower, the red line, and so many restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. My husband and I use public transportation as much as possible, but I did check the parking situation for other people. They provide valet parking, and it looks like the rates might change, so if you're planning on driving call ahead to figure out how much parking will cost. I definitely plan on staying in this hotel again next time we visit Chicago.

        Editing my stay to add that the elevator broke on the last day and we waited 30 min to get an elevator that could fit us so we could go down, that made us late for plans we had. After reading the reviews this happens often. So if you decide to stay here ask for first floors so if that happens you have an easier way out. Overall we like staying here. Rooms look different than the ones in the picture. We did get a large room with two queen/king beds. Beds were comfortable and sheets clean. Although the room itself wasn’t that clean! The location is pretty good, walking distance from a lot of things!

        I stayed here for 2 nights. On the first day only 1 of the 2 lifts were working, which was slightly inconvenient. The room itself was nice but noisy. The aircon sounded like a tractor idling and couldn't be turned below 69 F°. The service in the hotel was adequate but not exceptional.

        We booked last minute and at first upon arrival customer service was so-so. I was waiting in the lobby shortly after and overheard Will engaging with another family that was checking in. I mentioned to my father I wish Will was the one who checked us in when we first got in as he was personable, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care. When we returned later that evening my dad started to converse with Will and he truly showed us he cared about his guests and their stay. It’s the little things that really add up and makes family and people remember for future stays.

        Hotel Saint Clair - Magnificent Mile is a quaint hotel just steps away from Chicago's Magnificent Mile and great food and fun as well as the beautiful lake shore views. The rooms are modern and clean with comfortable beds. The staff is friendly and helpful with requests for service and amenities. The hotel also has a restaurant in the building.
