Hotel The Building

Me and my partner stayed in the hotel for 10 nights. We had the worst experience regarding this hotel. Started with the note on the reception asking for city tax payable on our last day via cash only !! Ridiculous! For two of us it was 150 Euro worth. Room was dark ,bed is super uncomfortable with a silly looking blanket which was falling apart and two single bed pushed together with a mattress topper. Asked on reception on our first day to change the blanket (sorry but you are a 4* hotel) They changed it but we had almost the same.. Drinks in fridges are overpriced. No kettle or coffee section provided. I fall ill few days after arrival and I needed to ask for boiling water so I can have my flu sachets! 🤧 How pathetic! On our last night I called the reception to remind them that the housekeeper forgot to top up our toilet roll .. I felt so embarrassed to ask for it but hey ho when nature calls ... Two of the receptionist are arrogant and almost felt like it was privilege to talk to them (curly hair ginger lady ,and a mid age guy ) The dark hair lady was actually very nice. Now ,the breakfast was always the same we were sick of it by the end ! Especially watching the radicchio and the lettuce going wilted slowly each day and not getting replaced . Peppers were slimy,old and the little bread rolls were super dry 😩 Staff at breakfast was cold and careless! felt like everything was an effort! Toaster took a year and a half to toast a couple of slices of toast ! Some of the tbles were wobbly and not clean. Juices felt far too sweet and not fresh . Coffee however was great ,but come on we were in Italy of course at least the coffee should be right ✅️ . Asked the grumpy guy at the reception about a spa day ,how much would it be ect .. He said it would be 25 Euro each . Which is fine ,however he said we will need to wear swimming cap too which was 4 Euro each . I never in my live wore swimming cap neither my partner also we would of worn it once and never again. So we decided not to book the spa ! We also heard some loud arguments throughout next door guests which was keepus up many occasions. Emergency services running up and down the street which sounded like it was in our room !!! Probably not great windows to make this better.Day of check out, obviously asking straight away for the city tax payment instead of asking how was our stay ? 🙄 We have payed Rome our tax "IN CASH" and left with a sour taste in our mouth for sure ! We don't recommend this hotel and definitely wont return!

I had an amazing experience while staying at Hotel the Building. The restaurant was amazing! The food was incredible, especially the handmade pastas. The service was exceptional both times we ate there with three amazing servers. The pool out back was also a great feature as you were able to cool off after a long and hot Rome day. All of the other employees were also very kind and helpful including the man who attended to the rooms and who worked around the clock around the hotel. Finally, the man who played piano every night in the lobby area made the hotel that much better as he would take requests. Overall a great hotel and would highly recommend!
