Just stayed at Hotel du Train for 3 nights while my partner and I were in Munich to browse the Christmas markets, it's a very charming hotel with kind and helpful staff and we had a great stay. The beds were a little on the firm side, which is not my preference, but they were not uncomfortable. The train-themed decor has a lot of character.

This is a cute smaller hotel in a great location, walkable to the train station or Marionplatz. Room was large, fit our family of 3 well. We’re still confused, though, about being told we didn’t get housekeeping. I looked on every hotel booking website, all say include housekeeping. Other than that, we had a nice stay.

Positives: Set up to look like an old-fashioned train car. That was delightful. We did splurge for a Jr Suite; which wasn’t a suite at all but was a nice large room. Short walk to city center and short walk to multiple tram and subway stations. Neighborhood is quiet at night. Was able to mirror my Netflix; that was nice. Staff was pleasant. Negatives: you should take out that one huge corner closet and install a fridge, coffee pot with the fixings and a microwave. Those most basic amenities are what make a 3 star become a 4 star hotel. Also, please install handrails for the tub. Because the tub is amazingly deep and above the level of the floor, it is very unsafe to get in and out of. Overall: Thanks for a lovely 5 nights.

If you arrive before 15.00p.m., instead of “hello” you will hear “it’s too early to check-in”. We even did not manage to ask about check-in. A grumpy female receptionist even did not check which rooms were clean, which dirty. So, ALL rooms at 14.00 p.m were still dirty? Ridiculous. The answer to the question if it is possible to leave the bag was - it is full here. Seriously? Full? They even do not have a place for bags, some luggage bags were just outside of the reception, randomly all over the floor (but definitely it was not full). The doors to the street were wide open and the grumpy female receptionist even did not bother to watch who is coming in, who is going out, any junky from street can enter and take any bag. Excellent service for allmost 400 euros per night - to be treated like you are bothering the royal higness in the reception. Update - after cleaning service 27.09, Gucci parfum is gone. No idea, if cleaners broke or stole it. I am travelling for years, such disaster I encounter first time in my life. Never ever before, even in shady places outside Europe it has never happened. If you still want to stay there, do not keep anything valuable in your room, nothing, no make-up, no valuable clothes, nothing that you would not want to lose. We reported it to the reception, but more likely it is sensless. Apparently staff members are not educated to work like humans do.
