        Rooms were clean and tidy, but did feel very confined and didn't have much ventilation. Air-conditioning didn't offer much cool air so did feel stiflingly warm. Receptionists who greeted us were friendly. Location very good in central CBD.

While the rooms are decent, the air conditioning leaves much to be desired, which is typical for a budget accommodation. Nonetheless, it's a good deal for what you pay. Service may be sluggish at times due to understaffing. Be prepared to provide a $100 bond upon check-in.

        Family of 4 stayed one night, paid for breakfast. Check in ladies on Mon (22Jan24) were lovely and helpful...the next morning we were confronted by a rather Rude male member of staff (looking authoritative in his suit) who proceeded to intimidate my 14yr old son in front of several guests in the breakfast area. No introduction, or greeting he just launched into what's your room number and you haven't paid for breakfast!! When I said YES he has breakfast included in our rate, he said NO you don't, I repeated yes we do!! "I will check that", was his last words as he stormed off. We chose to ignore his arrogance and observed his negative interactions with other guests when they asked for more plates, clean cutlery and more bread for toast...he told a non English speaking guest the pan cake machine was out of order - which it wasn't he just could not be bothered helping her use it. He clearly doesn't want to be there, and has a severe lack of customer service. More training or move him on is my advice!! Hotel itself suited our needs...awesome location to trams, metro and regional trains. Cleanliness...towels and sheets were snow white and fresh!! Aircon needs to be re-gased or replaced as no circulation in the room. Overall basic hotel, great location, remove that negative suit wearing male staff member and guests will feel comfortable!!! Guest review ratings may also increase!!

        When we arrived and checked in, we noticed firstly the condition of the hotel and the smell - in the corridor to get up to the check-in level it smelled like kitchen grease traps and urine. After we checked in and went up to our room, the hallways were filthy and lined with laundry trolleys. Inside our room there was a toilet seat on the floor at the door, and there was no shower head in the shower, just a pipe sticking out of the wall. We also noticed we'd been given the wrong room to what we booked. Heading back down to reception the attendant was apologetic and kind, really helpful with what she had capacity to work with, and told us there were repairs done to the toilet seat and shower 3-4 days prior. Somehow no-one had been in the room for this length of time to take the random toilet seat with them? She sorted us out with a new room, on a totally different level, that was also filthy and lined with laundry trolleys in the hall. There was also a hole in the wall in the hallway and several stains on the walls. When we got into our room we noticed the air conditioning remote missing (AC was also stuck on 19 degrees) and stains on the carpet, couch, and surface of the TV. When we later went to reception to get a remote for the AC a new attendant on shift was rifling through the cupboards trying to find something for us, and gave us a random remote with no backing on the batteries and said we should give it a try. Went back up, and it wasn't the right one, so had to go through the process again and thankfully found us the right remote. Overall the state of the hotel and room was really poor, neither of us wanted to walk on the carpet barefoot. Really visible stains everywhere, and a stale smell throughout.

        Stayed here in March and the location was great - near all the shops, right near the train station and tram stop across the road. Upon arrival at the hotel as we were arrived at 10 am they were able to take our bags for a $5 fee which was ideal. However upon entering our room it was very very small and the window faced a concrete wall. We had no towels in our room and had to ask three times on our first day for towels as they said they would bring them up and we waited for a while and no one came until the third time we asked as we were going out into the town and upon returning found the towels in our room. Staff are nice depending on who you speak to as some are kinder than others. Overall location is good and for the price point, just be mindful that the room is small.
