Located at quiet road, but it's hakone, anywhere else is quiet too.. Relaxing ambience, wooden ryokan style. With a touch of modernity. Wifi as available. Bus stop just outside the door.

(Crossposting on Google bc Agoda truncated my review :() I've been to Hakone before, usually on day trips, and each time it was Okay, but this time my stay at Tenmaku made it such that it was genuinely so difficult to leave 🥹😭😭 1) Room - I had the best sleeps of my life ever both nights I was there, the futon was so incredibly comfortable. In the morning the sunlight peels in through the windows and you can see the mountains beyond, which is simply stunning. (note - I don't know about the dorms unfortunately!) 2) Location - It's right next to the Hakone Open Air Museum (beautiful and absolutely worth a visit) and a short walk from its associated station, but I preferred the scenic 15 or so min walk to Gora station , where you can find a number of other attractions like the Hakone Gora Park and the Hakone Museum of Art, and their sister cafe Coffee Camp, where Tenmaku customers can get a discount :) Food there is great too, if a bit limited. 3) Activity - The "Shared Dinner" was actually why I opted for this place as a solo traveler, and it really didn't disappoint. The food is delicious and well worth the price, but besides that it creates a communal activity after nightfall for everyone to gather and share stories and the like. I opted for it both nights of my stay and met new friends! One night we even ended up having a karaoke session, which was really fun. You can get drinks at the bar, and I'd recommend basically everything from Hakone there (I think I tried nearly all of them). Even if you don't opt for the dinner it's in the same space as the bar, so if you're sociable you can still join in the conversation :) You can also bring snacks to share with everyone - helpful if you're a solo traveler who bought 4 eggs at Owakudani lol 4) Staff - All the staff here are great and so friendly and so helpful! They'll welcome you back and chat with you about what you've seen, which makes the atmosphere so warm, which really is so crucial for a guesthouse 😊 Shout out to Masashi, who was on shift every day of my stay and was really nice to talk to - he speaks English just fine but he was also very willing to converse with me in Japanese :-) I learned a lot from him and got music recs as well HAHA if you need anything he's the guy!! Overall (if you can't tell from this essay of a review), I really enjoyed my stay here - it made me so sad when I had to go 🥹 I'll be back in different seasons to see all the colours of Hakone!! So nice for a family with young kids. The staff and fellow travellers were so friendly to our young children. The toilets and showers are very clean, the rooms as well. The shared dinner was great for making friends and socialising. The shared living, kitchen and laundry makes it feel like you have lots more space than if you were staying in a hotel.

Booking Policy

It is mandatory for all guests to present valid government photo ID’s at the time of check-in.

The primary guests check-in into the hotel must meet the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Extra guests are subject to availability. And it might incur additional charges.

If guests are traveling with a child or children, it is necessary to specify the number of children accompanying them during the hotel booking process to avoid any last-minute complications.

Underage guests are only allowed to check-in with at least one parent or official guardian who fulfils the age requirements set by either the local government or the hotel’s policies.

Early check-in or late check-out request is subject to availability and the hotel may charge an additional fee for providing such services.

The price paid to Adani One includes room charges, taxes, the specified inclusions mentioned during the booking and convenience fee, if appliable. It does not cover additional services and expenses at the hotel.

Taxes, levies, charges, and any similar government fees, if applicable, will be imposed by the relevant authorities in the jurisdiction where the hotel is located. The guest is responsible for paying all such charges, as applicable.

Guests are required to adhere to any special instructions provided by the hotel. Failure to comply may result in the hotel's right to deny the booking or terminate the stay immediately.

For any special requests, please write in the designated section while booking on the Adani One platform. We will forward these requests to the hotel; however, please note that the hotel may or may not be able to accommodate them depending on availability at the time of check-in. Hotel Cancellation Policy

User can cancel their booking through the Adani One website or app until the check-in date and time. The refund for such cancellations will be subject to the hotel's cancellation policy. Adani One has no say over the refund amount.

Users can only cancel the entire booking. Partial cancellations, such as canceling specific room(s), a portion of the total nights, or specific guests out of the entire group, are not permitted.

User should not cancel the booking directly with the hotel. If a user cancels the booking directly with the hotel, Adani One will not be responsible for any refund.

Cancellation requests made through the online platform or via phone calls are the only valid and accepted methods.

Any cancellation requests made directly to the hotel will not be the responsibility of Adani One.

If you fail to cancel your reservation within the designated cancellation period, as specified by the hotel you booked, you will be responsible for paying the applicable nightly rates, tax recovery charges, and service fees imposed by the hotel. If you do not show up for the first night of your reservation but still plan to check in for the remaining nights, you must inform Adani One of any changes to your reservation no later than the scheduled arrival date for the first night. This is necessary to prevent the cancellation of your entire reservation.

In case of no show at the hotel, you'll be charged the entire booking amount.

Modification and Reschedule Policy

Once the booking is initiated, the user can’t change the name of primary guest, number of guests, age of child/children, number of rooms, and check-in/check-out date and time.

After the booking is confirmed, user will need to cancel their existing booking to create a new one to make any changes such as updating the primary guest, modifying the number of guests, specifying the age of child/children, adjusting the number of rooms, or changing the check-in/check-out date and time etc.
