        We very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sanoya. It is very conveniently located just north of Kyoto Station. Just outside the Porta exit. The hotel is Japanese style with tatami mats and futons, which is to my liking. The public baths were spacious and hot. Our room also had a private bath, though we did not use it. The hotel was clean with no sign of cigarette smoke and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

        Pleasant enough hotel that is unfortunately showing its age. Scratches and stains were everywhere around the room if you cared to look. That said, the staff were wonderful, the bath in the basement is relaxing and the breakfast service left us filled with energy for a day in Kyoto. The hotel's close proximity to Kyoto Station makes for excellent communications, and while there are many far better ryokan in the city, this one is not bad at all. Do be aware however: the hotel has a curfew at 00:30 hours which is only revealed at check-in. If you plan to enjoy the nightlife or stay out late, Sanoya is simply not an option.

        The hospitality the hotel staff provided was positively memorable, friendly and very helpful. The room was small though very clean. Our stay had complimentary breakfast included and it was particularly lovely with the Japanese style multi course menu, grilled seafood, steamed vegetables and rice. Best part of the stay!

        We have a pleasant experience staying at this ryokan. The staffs are very helpful and attentive. Our Japanese room is huge, I think it can fit 4-6 people easily. The breakfast and kaikesi dinner are good. The food are too pretty to eat

        We stayed 2 nights at this hotel during sakura time. Very close to the station about 2 mins walk. If you travel by yourself and looking for ryokan with private bathroom, this hotel is a good choice. The room could accommodate 5 of us comfortably. The room was large with 3 seperate sections and a private bathroom. What i love the most is breakfast at this hotel. It was soooo good. We also had kaiseiki at the hotel for dinner. One thing i need this hotel to improve is that they should provide children meal with no raw fish(sashimi).
