The house is fabulous. I lived in the bathrooms at night, the bath had a way to maintain the temperature at 40 degrees. If you are after a Machiya experience with modern comfort, this place is highly recommended. The staff are super helpful and attentive, it is not a manned hotel but they re only a phone call away and super efficient, they helped me with breakfast delivery and baggage forwarding and i just had to email which was great cos communication was super clear. The Nishiki (?) market was 10 -15 mins walk away depending on your pace, there is a nearby station. Lots of local eating places. It is in a residential area so you need to be respectful that noise be reduced from a certain time but definitely worth the experience.

Had an amazing stay in the SHU suite. Its tattoo friendly as well since you have the whole townhouse to yourself. Miki greeted us at check in and showed us around the house. We had a lovely tea ceremony and she gave a lot of local recommendations as well. The bathroom is absolutely beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor baths. The machiya is also a 5 minute walk from Gojo station. Would 100% recommend staying here!

This was such a beautiful please to stay! The meals were delicious! And the outdoor tub was magnificent after a long day of walking and sightseeing it was a great way to relax and unwind.
