The room was clean, the bed was not the best, we went there after a flight got canceled and they gave us vouchers for this hotel. There were a lot of people in line to check in. the guy who was supposed to check us in took forever, the rest was good. They had a decent dinner and breakfast and the staff were helpful.

I'm not really sure why this place gets so many 1 star reviews. My wife and I thought this hotel was actual pretty good. We had a room with a bedroom and a living room area. The bathroom was nice and clean. The bed is a little hard but I still slept great. My only guess why people are upset, is because they missed their flight and had to stay the night. And after reading some reviews, I think people expect to stay in a 5 star hotel for some reason. Either way, I found it to be a good place. The wife and myself got to explore the city and eat some amazing food, so we didn't eat the dinner that was provided at the hotel. However, we did get to eat breakfast and was more than happy. This breakfast would blow away any complimentary breakfast at an American hotel. They had a good selection of cheese, meat, bread, fruits, and more. All in all, we had a great experience and got a free mini vacation of Madrid.

I can’t deceide whether to title this review “ AVOID AVOID AVOID” or “THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT” or “ WELCOME TO HELL”. I wanted to stay at a local airport hotel for a 11:30 flight the next morning, I thought I was booking Melia Barajas Airport Hotel, however on arrival to that hotel via the airport transfer I discovered I had made a mistake ( Apparently a common mistake according to the receptionist). We then caught a €20 taxi from Melia Barajas to what I can only describe as a desolate gangland area with many deserted graffitied unfinished buildings with what looked like squatters everywhere, it was truly an eye opener, there was absolutely nothing around in this desolate industrial area. The check in area was under construction, the receptionist was not in the mood to give me any extra information, like is there a restaurant close by or where can I buy some toothpaste ( something I thought we could pick up easily). My credit card number including the expiry and CVV was hand written on a piece of paper which I questioned and was told “for security”. The reception area to the lifts was full of “ local people” loitering and watching our every move, it felt extremely unsafe, it appears people live here long term as a private hotel? Our junior suite was basic, the bar fridge freezer overflowing with frost, room smelt like cigarettes- evidence of this was left on the window seal from previous occupants. Walls are very thin and I could hear the neighbours whilst in their bathroom. We did not dare leave the room, we googled and there is literally nothing around, there were however a pack of wild dogs roaming the streets I saw from the window. At around 02:45am we were woken by what I thought was someone trying to break into the room, turns out the wall shelf in the lounge area fell to the ground, on inspection I could see the poor workmanship that was used to somewhat secure it. I pretty much didn’t sleep for the rest of the night, I told reception in the morning about the shelf, he wasn’t interested. We went to breakfast when it opened at 7am and then rushed to catch the airport transfer at 7:30am the next was at 11am. Absolutely the worst place I have ever stayed and to be honest It will make me think twice before booking anything Melia.

I would highly advise that you AVOID THIS HOTEL like the plague. We arrived to the airport after midnight and then called to get a shuttle pickup. After waiting 15 minutes for the shuttle, the driver continued to do loops around the airport to pick up additional passengers that were not there. Finally after arriving at the hotel around 1am and heading up to our room we were disgusted to see the sheets were BLOOD-stained. To add insult to injury, we reported the incident to mgmt via their email after our stay and received no reply. We would still like a refund given this was disgusting.

15 min shuttle from the airport. Shuttle is a large tour bus that comes every hour. We arrived at 2245 with about 30 other people who has missed their flights at Barajas. Check in was slow but the staff were pleasant. Their restaurant closes at 11 so they prepared brown sack lunches. They must have called it ahead. It was a sandwich, apple, yogurt, chips, and chocolate. The room was a suite with a bedroom with a door that closes and a dining/seating area with a small TV and refrigerator. It was one of the cleanest and quietest hotels I have been in this year. The air conditioning worked very well and there was plenty of hot water to shower. Certainly a no frills, nearly dorm type hotel. There was construction in the lobby. They also provided a brown sack breakfast because our flight in the morning was too early to go to the restaurant. I would definitely come back if I needed to stay close to the airport though I didn't have to pay for the stay this time. @teresabliving
