        Following a misunderstanding at our previous accomodation, the owners helped us find this hotel. A great find it was too. The Management reserved a space for us right outside the main entrance so we could use my wheelchair, which made things much easier. The reception ladies were exceptionally helpful and we were offered a choice of two rooms. Naturally, we picked a room with a jacuzzi which was very spacious. The hotel itself is close to the seafront and well placed for access to the local restaurants and takeaways. The rooms were cleaned and beds made every day. Nice large flat screen TV on the wall and a kettle plus tea and coffee sachets. All in all the staff displayed a superb level of customer service that is rarely see. Officially a 3* property but the service alone is 5 stars.

        I can not fault this hotel. I had my little girls christening reception here. The function room is big , spacious and very beautiful. Also has a bar and a dance floor. The staff were amazing and very helpful , with any questions that was asked. The bar staff were great. Very child friendly and just an all around lovely place. The function room is good value for money. I will definitely be using again for any function needed. Thank you to everyone at the sandy lodge for making the night special.

        I want to emphasize that the hotel staff is exceptional. They work tirelessly, often to the point of being overworked, possibly due to the hotel owners' demands. Despite their demanding hours, the staff members have consistently been welcoming and extraordinarily helpful. I also appreciated the hotel's location. It's conveniently close to the city center, and there's a Tesco nearby. I recommend starting your day with a coffee and taking a walk to the cliff. There, you can find a bench, sit back, enjoy your coffee, and take in the breathtaking view. In my perspective, it appears that the owners of this establishment have little regard for the property or the well-being of their staff. It seems their primary focus is maximizing profits without investing in any improvements. The hotel's interior is notably old and in a state of disrepair. Our room, despite having the window open continuously, felt cramped and stuffy. To add to the disappointment, we discovered hygiene issues in the bathroom, including the presence of pubic hair. Additionally, the noise level was quite high, making it challenging to get a good night's sleep. The overall ambiance and odor of the place were far from pleasant. It gave the impression of stepping back in time by about two decades, which left me feeling uncomfortable due to the dated, dusty, and unclean atmosphere. However, the most distressing aspect was that our friends found BED BUGS in their room, specifically in their bed. This issue extended to three different rooms, and they had to be moved four times before finally finding a room free of bed bugs. While the staff responded well and provided a refund, I believe it's crucial to mention this as a warning. If I had been aware of the bed bug problem, I would never have chosen to stay at this establishment. Although our room was unaffected, it seems only a matter of time before the infestation spreads throughout the entire hotel. Considering that this place is not particularly cheap, I find such a low standard of accommodation unacceptable. The owners should either take immediate steps to address these issues or consider closing the establishment. As it stands, it feels like they are taking advantage of guests and providing subpar service.

        After reading the reviews for the hotel, me and 7 of my friends had some reservations about the 3 night holiday we were about to embark on. We went to the hotel shortly after getting off our overnight coach and we were all a bit nervous as to what we were in for. However as soon as we got to the front desk, all of our doubts were quickly dismissed as we were met with the most kind and helpful staff. They offered us a safe place to put our bags whilst we waited for our rooms to be ready (we arrived before check in) and we wanted to go for a swim, and even gave us a little tour of their bar and dining room, and we played some music on the jukebox they have in there. If you looking for affordable, perfectly located hotel where you always get a “goodmorning” and “hello” from all the staff as you walk past, then this is a great place for you. Will definitely be coming back!

        I had a recent 5 night stay at this property during a visit to cornwall with friends. We arrived early & were able to store our luggage at reception, which was really helpful as we had hours before our check-in time & wanted to go out to explore central Newquay. My initial room had no shower which I found both unusual & disappointing as I'd never stayed in a 3* with no shower but this was very quickly rectified by Alex at reception once I'd voiced my disappointment. My second room was really nice & my stay after this point on was very pleasant. THANK YOU ALEX! The staff at this property are really friendly & helpful, particularly Alex at reception who always tried his best to accommodate our individual needs including giving us info (& printing it out) on travel & Manday who cleaned the rooms & tried to resolve any technical issues with the rooms such as plumbing, cleaning & notifying the technician of other room maintenance issues, I always found her really pleased to chat with & feel she always tried her best to make our stay comfortable as well as providing us with useful info on site seeing. Some of the rooms at this hotel could do with an update but this does not take away from the fact that the staff & location make this property a fantastic place to stay & begin your cornwall adventure.
