        I have never given a bad review to a hotel before…even if I didn’t have the best service. I was staying in Nice over the new year. I have been travelling around France since 3 weeks - mostly Accor hotels. I have stayed at the Mercure too last week but not in Nice. My parents and I were walking around the promenade (near the water) in Nice when my mum suddenly needed to use the washroom. The closest place was Hotel Mercure Nice Marché aux Fleurs. That day was some holiday and a couple of cafés were closed. My mum has had multiple surgeries and uses a walking stick. We walked into this hotel, she climbed up a few stairs (probably 7/8) to reach the reception. There was a lady sitting at the reception. We requested her if my mum could use their washroom and even mentioned that we stayed at the Mercure, but not with them. She didn’t bother uttering a word or even responding. The bitter woman didn’t even look up at us from her computer! A man who was working there too walks by, so we request him then, thinking maybe she didn’t hear (but we know she did). He tells us rudely that there’s no washroom. My mother had her stick in her hand and I requested him again. He very rudely shunned us off and said there are no washrooms available. It’s honestly quite sad and pathetic. I hope one day, this man and the lady can be in a similar situation and understand the importance of kindness. I don’t mean it in a bad way, but yes, getting a taste of your own medicine is required some times. We don’t mind that he said he can’t help but there was no need for this kind of rudeness. This team is in the wrong field. They shouldn’t be in hospitality.

        Our basic room (203) had awkward access (spiral staircase), limited storage space and poor replenishment of in-room refreshments (milk and sugar). On the plus side, the room was comfortable, the staff were supportive and our deal made it good value.

        Great location on the seafront, next to the Opera house and market. Room & bathroom was compact but sufficient, air con worked well. Breakfast room was cosy but offered a good selection and the waitress was very friendly.

        If I could give 0 starts I would. That was the worst experience I ever had. Arrival day we have been given a room that had been used and wasn't clean (hairs on the sheets, stains, toilet absolutely dirty, etc.), then moved on to another temporary tiny room that my partner couldn't have a shower standing up as the ceiling was so low. Next day moved on to a THIRD room, which was smelling awful like damp and AC did not work properly, there was a blockage in the shower for 2 days leaving us unable to shower. Hotel manager left the shift without resolving, leaving the staff to deal with it, when called her no solution was provided, having to call her again as we would not accept simply not being able to shower after a hot day at the beach. In addition to all that, we had mouldy and stained towels left for us to use after the room had been clean. It was all an awful experience. Having spoken to other guests, they found bugs in their beds too, appalling.

        No chance it’s a 4 star hotel. My room had the weirdest smell, really unpleasant. Room and halls are warm and very stuffy in general. Ac is basically just a small fan that blows in a small direction (adjustable). the shower is tiny so if you’re above 5’9 you’ll have to bend. Also you cant order Ubers here or get dropped off since it’s in an ecozone. One thing I did enjoy about this hotel was the balcony, not much a view pretty average but it’s nice to have.
