Moxy NYC Downtown

This 4-Star hotel, seemingly owned and operated by Marriott, is conveniently located close to multiple subway stations and major visit-worthy places such as the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center. However, all the good about it ends there. First of all, you always need to take two separate elevators to get to your room. Secondly, the rooms are barely up to 4-Star standard. The washroom sink takes forever to drain all the water. There are no indoor slippers. There is no proper closet (You are provided with a few hangers to hang on the wall). There are literally no place to put your items consistently since everything is foldable. Next, there is the controversial Destination Charge, which is not bad if you use it well. While they will charge you everyday, you will get the same amount as a credit to use at the bar (Recreation) on the third floor. Here is the catch. Literally every single food item on the menu is borderline edible. The breakfast menu, especially, feels like they are all frozen, microwaved items. In addition, the staff at the bar are either extremely unfriendly or rude. Lastly, be sure you use your Welcome Drink chips.

The Moxy Hotel Downtown is an excellent choice for your stay in NYC! The front desk staff was exceptional, providing a warm and friendly welcome with great attention to detail. Malik, in particular, was extremely helpful during our stay. The hotel's funky design adds a cute and cool vibe that's perfect for families, groups, date nights, and even solo travelers. Despite a minor setback with one meal causing some discomfort, the overall quality of the food and drinks was really good. The hotel also boasts some fantastic amenities, including a basketball court and a small but functional gym, which is a great plus. What sets this hotel apart is its superb location, offering easy access to the subway and a variety of nearby options for dining, shopping, salon services, massage therapies, grooming, and more. While we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we did encounter an incident with one waitstaff member who displayed unacceptable rudeness. We believe that this behavior does not reflect the professionalism and high standards of service that the hotel strives for. We are confident that the management will address this issue appropriately. Considering the vibrant energy and style of the hotel's design, it's important to note that the rooms are on the smaller side, as is often the case in NYC. Even the "larger" rooms have a compact layout. However, this did not detract significantly from our overall experience. Unfortunately, our room had an underwhelming view, but we found the other aspects of the hotel more than made up for it. In summary, The Moxy Hotel Downtown offers a unique and trendy atmosphere, outstanding staff, and a convenient location. It's a perfect choice for those looking to explore the city and have a memorable stay. With slight improvements in room size and the handling of the incident mentioned, this hotel has the potential to be truly exceptional.
