Free parking, and easy check-in at reception. The bedroom was quality and well maintained with complimentry coffee and biscuits. Free entry to adjoining spa and swimming pool for hotel residents. Good food offer in hotel restaurant and good beer in offer in bar.
Rooms quite old (we just arrived from another 4 star hotel that was cheaper and the standard was much better), bathroom flush was barely working, no one picks up the phone at reception when calling from a room. When we arrived we were told the restaurant wasn’t working as there was a wedding at their restaurant that day. Door to the restaurant wasn’t closed so the music was blasting to the main entrance and the corridor, kids from the event were running around and the only place my fiancé and I could have a drink at was the bar, but kids from the wedding have taken over all the tables. One couple were eating full meals at small coffee tables, but we were told at the bar there was no food being served that day and they didn’t even have nuts or crisps at the bar. Receptionists were actually exceptionally nice (what we couldn’t say about the bar lady) - we didn’t complain to them about anything as we were staying at the hotel only for one weekend and didn’t want to ruin our short getaway. We were going to use the hotel spa facilities, but after viewing a sad small jacuzzi and pool area we agreed that they definitely didn’t meet a 4 star hotel level which was quite disappointing as we were really looking forward to a spa Sunday! We’re not snobby or picky people, but the area definitely looked sad and not inviting at all. We had breakfast at the orangery in the morning and the food was great. Loads of English breakfast choices, juices, coffee, fruit, cereal, toast etc! Although we had to set up a table ourselves as didn’t get anyone to clear the table and bring placemats, salt &pepper and that.
Arrived at the venue and went the welcome desk to check if it was possible for a early check in. Was told "you cant just arrive at a hotel and expect to use you're room" I asked if it was possible to check if the was a room available instantly told no and wait in the bar. Waited in the bar for a member of staff and then asked at reception. Was told I just need to wait. I managed to get into a friend's room who checked in early and then proceeded to wait for an iron for a further 20 minutes. We waited at the bar for our taxi and yet again had to go find staff to be served. Returned later that night to my room and found the bathroom floor wet and slippery causing me to fall. Room was filthy and smelt of stale smoke and damp. Overall the stay was poor with the quality of the room, staff attitude and overall service. I wouldn't recommend to anyone or stay again.
When we arrived we were greeted by what looked like an only staff member. We were checked in and given directions to our room, up the stairs than down a corridor then down the stairs, but these instructions were not clear, we asked again and this time after walking around for 10 minutes we found our room. The only good thing about this hotel was the free parking. Next time we have to work in Wolverhampton we will rather stay at a Travel Lodge or a Premier Inn, these are far superior. We forget some clothes at the back of the en-suite door, and it has been over a week, no contact.
Nice hotel. Staff were ok. Always someone at reception. Key cards kept deactivating (despite keeping away from phones and bank cards). Rooms were not sound proof. Breakfast was overpriced. Probably wouldn't stay again. Far from the city.
