Pelicano Inn Playa del Carmen - Beachfront Hotel

I rate this Hotel 5 stars because despite being a 3 stars hotel , I had a wonderful stay in the honeymoon suite which was the nicest room I ever stayed at in Playa del Carmen . I visited PDC 15 times and stayed in many of the hotels on/near the beach , paying a premium for seafront rooms and the honeymoon at Pelicano Inn beats them all. First of all the terrace was huge , with 2 sunbeds, table and chairs and fully functional jacuzzi which was a welcome relief after a day of excursions , under the stars , listening to waves with a nice drink . The room was basic but very comfortable , with a lovely huge bed , the WiFi worked perfectly and the air con kept the room cool at all times . The staff at reception and at the beach club was very friendly and helpful and the beach club itself offered free sunbeds for guests, good shower and clean bathroom facilities and reasonably priced cocktails and food. They also had a dj playing chilled music in the afternoon and the beach club is located in one of the best part of the beach for swimming . It is true that the breakfast offering was a bit limited in choices if you don’t want to eat eggs but the portions were decent and tasty. I would definitely reccomend this place to my friends and I am already planning my next visit .. hopefully soon . Thank you to all the staff at Pelicano Inn for the wonderful stay.

My 16 night stay I had to stay in three different rooms because of previous booking. My first two nights and almost 3 days I had no hot water and h a d to listen to excessive noise coming from the Boombox speaker from the restaurant. I barely slept the entire time because of the excessive noise that they call music from their restaurant was loud and vibrated in the rooms. I had to wear earphones 90% of the time I was there even on the beach to drown out the noise from the speakers. There was no listening to the Natural sound of the ocean because the Boombox vibrating speakers overpowered everything. I went there to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the ocean but that never happened. And let's not get me started about the restaurant staff removing your towels and selling your lounge chairs to people who were not guests at the hotel. I spoke to at least half a dozen people while I was there and they were not happy with the noise from the restaurant speakers and the staff taking their lounge chairs from under them. And the hot water was hit and miss the entire 16 days, mostly a miss.. Orlando was one of the front desk staff and he was truly the only one that seemed to care. Oh and one of the restaurant manager, not the one with the tattoos all over him. I don't remember his name. But he said it was a pleasure to serve me. Suffice it to say I will never return to this hotel and it's too bad because it was a beautiful looking place and location being beachfront.
