        The hotel itself is quite nice and modern - location is great. My room was comfortable but a bit small and when I initially entered it, there was an intense smell of cleaning products. I can only confirm what has been written in several reviews, namely that the personnel was not very well organized and did not behave as professionally as one would expect (e.g. when I arrived the personnel at the reception was arguing for 2min whether to take a phone call or not while I was in the middle of check in). Also, I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast offering (very crowded!).

        Would not recommend based on service alone. Everything else is average but service (staff responsiveness and friendliness) are much below average, especially given nightly rate. When we asked for an additional towel, we waited nearly 30 minutes with no call back and no towel. We tried calling the front desk 6 times over the course of 15 minutes and they did not answer. When they finally answered we were told they were too busy to answer and that we just need to wait for the towel whenever housekeeping has time, but no estimate. Unfortunately our son was waiting to get out of the shower so we could go to dinner. The staff was quite rude when we simply asked if it would be easier if we picked the towel up from the front desk or directly from housekeeping (to save them from making the trip to our room). Overall, understand their sole job is not to deliver a towel to us, but the way they were curt and rude when we were simply trying to understand options (and options that might make it easier for them and faster for us), really left a poor taste in our mouth. Additionally, rooms are not well insulated for noise and the elevators are quite noisy/old. Location is ok, appropriate for the price. We paid to upgrade to a larger room and though we appreciated the separation of bedroom from living room, navigating the rooms was quite tight with shelves blocking portions of the bedroom doorway and the bathroom door blocking the toilet completely.

        We enjoyed staying at Pestana Lisboa Vintage city center hotel. Our room was nice (albeit small) and the bed was comfortable. Minor issues we had were addressed immediately. Restaurant downstairs serves decent breakfast and is also open in the afternoon/evening so one night we really enjoyed a good Portuguese wine and salmon tartar which was delicious. The hotel is located about 15 min from the city center, so you are away from all the busy tourist area while it is reachable by foot. If you want to explore the city on the double decker hop-on/hop-off bus, they have their hub right around the corner from this hotel (although I wouldn’t recommend that bus in Lisbon, read their reviews online).

        Not everything in a hotel is location which in this case is good. However, the street at night fills up with homeless people and it becomes scary getting into the hotel at night. The rooms are very small, the beds very uncomfortable. I had to go to El Corte Ingles to buy pillows because it was impossible to sleep. The walls are so thin that you will hear everything for the rest of the rooms. It is extremely cold in the rooms. The people that work in reception are extremely rude, which is odd for a 4 star hotel. They do not help you with anything and they just stare at you. I wouldn't recommend it if you want to go to Lisbon and have a relaxing stay.

        Nice place to stay with good access to public transportation. Very good breakfast and caring cafeteria staff. We stay there for 7 nights. Unfortunately I am very disappointed with reception staff who was not helpful at all, at the time I needed medical help due to injury. Reception staff was not aware, or trying to find out where is nearest emergancy hospital I can go to (gave us a location of wrong, specialized hospital without emergency unit). When I asked a question for number to place a collect oversees call the answer was " it is a good question". After that they didn't pick my next call, while I had trouble moving.
