I quite liked everything about PUBLIC Hotel. It's obvious that thought went into the design of this hotel to make something beautiful (in a modern-urban sense) and thankfully the service doesn't lag behind. The rooms were small (a given in NYC) but very modern and well-designed. Mine had a small space for a desk and comfortable booth-like seating. The bed was comfortable and came with a perfect view of the city. Instead of a buffet, we were given credits for breakfast. The credits were only enough to cover a couple items; admittedly the quality of said items was very good. Service is exceptional. Our flight landed early in the day and though we arrived to the hotel much, much earlier than 2 P.M., they still welcomed us to an early check-in anyways. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and had a drink at the bar. I don't think the restaurant is necessarily worth the trip when you're already surrounded by so much good food. The bar downstairs was well decorated and lit and had a nice feel. Only downside is that it fills up very quickly to the point it becomes hard to move. We didn't visit the rooftop bar/club. Location is perfect obviously and probably why you're looking at this hotel in the first place. Value is great too. Ultimately, PUBLIC Hotel is the best option at its price point if I want a nice stay close to SoHo/Chinatown rather than in the tourist-packed hotel clusters near midtown.

Nice hotel in the Bowery - convenient for co-working… or staying there. Modern vibe, with a very “Blade runner” escalator! Some quirks - check in or luggage handling is mostly self service, but there usually is helpful staff member to help out. I personally love the rooms - minimalist but comfortable. On the small side but am not looking for palatial suites! Shower heats up quickly and doesn’t have the silly mixing faucet you sometimes find. Another quirk in rooms: sink/mirror are in the main body of the room, not the bathroom… no room service, but conveniently, coffee and food available in the lobby (although morning coffee is expensive - $5 or more)

It's cool if you like the connecting room door to be non-existent. Our neighbor wasn't being loud at all, but all audio went right under the door -- plus even their room lighting. Shocking with so much thought put into the design of this hotel, they couldn't figure out the door between rooms, the appropriate door density, and the massive sound tunnel gap underneath.

My experience is solely based on the Public rooftop. Myself and friends decided to have a girls night to unwind before the weekend festivities. We were well aware that you must spend 300 to access the rooftop. However, that is an impossible feat when the menu is limiting and the drinks are average. Nonetheless, we tried our best to make the best out of it. Our original server recognized that it was a rather quiet night and said that her manager would allow us to just pay for what we had accrued(292) versus being held to the 300. However, she leaves and another waitress comes over to tell us that the manager said no it’s 300, and your 8 dollars away from the total so we would need to order yet another sub par food item. To be clear, 300 is small change for us. We figured prior to arrival that if the atmosphere was worth it we would just do bottle service. However, I won’t be made to feel like I was trying to escape a 300 bill, when I literally paid for this entire trip for myself and friends just because we needed a break. I think that paying patrons, especially ones who are willing to jump through the hoops of leaving my card and ID at the front so just in case I “accidentally” leave the waitress can charge my card for a pre determined gratuity, whether there service is subpar or not is egregious. Moreover, I believe that if you truly want folks to rack up a bill of 300 prior to 10 o clock when the DJ comes, y’all need real bar bites or else you are literally squeezing people with pressure to over drink or over consume unnecessarily.
