Stayed here on an Overseas Adventure Travel OAT tour. Hard bed, hard pillows, threadbare towels, polyester bedding, smelly carpet. Wonderfully nice staff, yet the hotel room defies any notion of hospitality. Updated 10/14/23, from 1 star to 3 star. Onsen bath is excellent. Large bath with waterfall and visible Japanese garden from bath.

Hotel room toilet has bad sewage smell, The pillow was hard. Hotel require re-furnished as it is quite run down.

There are many other better choices in this priced Hakone hotel. We booked a plan without dinner, and each of us spent 6,600 yen to add a dinner. It's a 90-minute all u can eat. It's not worth it and distasteful. Many of the main dishes in it are cold, and there are not many kinds. Secondly, my friend rubbed the cabinet next to her when she opened the refrigerator, and the wooden thorns pricked into her hand. The staff just took out the wooden thorns, and there were no other disposal measures, such as changing us a room or disposing of the broken cabinet. There is only one washing machine and one dryer in the laundry room, not an all-in-one washing machine and the price is more expensive than the coin laundry in other hotel. The hot spring is nice, especially the outdoor one. But there are little boys in the women's bathroom, which makes me feel very disgusting. In addition, except for one female staff, the front can hardly speak English and does not use a translator. We booked it for about $290 a night on Saturday, which makes me feel very unworthy. If you choose a workday, it will lower than weekend.

Pricing was appropriate considering that we arrived during Golden week. The room was spacious, service was pleasant, and we were able to speak to both English and Vietnamese staffs who assisted in contacting restaurants and directing is on how to get to places. The onsen was big with one outdoor pool. There's an arcade, pingpong room, and small souvenirs shop that appears to have goods from local shops. We had breakfast included with our stay, added a dinner when we couldn't get into nearby restaurants, and also tried 2 of restaurants that were 3-10 minutes walk. There's a few convinience store and grocery store with 5-15 minutes walk. Most major attractions are 20-30minutes bus rides away, but we had the hakone free pass.
