        1. Tried to check in at 1am but the desk clerk did not have internet. After 30 min she connected to her personal cell phone hotspot to check me in. 2. First room had an unbearable stench. Changed rooms 3. 2nd room had multiple varieties of bugs including German Roaches. I stomped on several and was so tired I just went to bed. 4. No hot water for a shower in the morning - decided to go elsewhere 5. While checking out the desk clerk listened to my complaints like she had heard them all before.

        I’ve stayed at this location every time I come to Houston. Atleast once a year, since it opened in 1996. I left houston in 1993. My sister lives around the corner in our mothers old house and when visiting it’s always just been convenient. Saying that, I’ve seen this hotel through the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly. This past year or two I would say is the best the hotel has ever been. Cosmetically, yes.. the hotel isn’t perfect. The building itself and the furniture is old, some of the comforters are old (though each stay I saw that they were updating them-when asked she said “slowly but surely”) and not every area looks great.. if cosmetic issues bother you, this isn’t the hotel for you.. keep in mind, you are paying a low rate. You aren’t at a Marriott. But it’s worlds better than the OYO, La Quinta, and Motel 6 across the Highway where you’d be lucky to not find a body under the bed or in a freezer. (Which I read recently happened over there) I came to the hotel during Thanksgiving and just checked back in for Christmas and I had to give props where props are due. The current manager, Katy, has been there for 2 years and recently took over a few months ago. I’ll also mention that they did do renovations last year, according to the last GM who was there during that time, he said they didn’t really replace much, they only painted, fixed structural issues, and replaced some mattress, but it was a definite improvement and the hotel looks better. These past trips this year I didn’t see a pest the entire time I was there, I know from years before that they have struggled with pests, but it seems they finally are getting it under control. Katy said they do preventative maintenance every other week. So that is good. I’m glad they are being proactive I’m rambling, so I’ll get to the point. The reason I am writing this? To say, the rooms are the cleanest I’ve ever seen them, katy and her staff are the best the hotel has ever had. They go above and beyond with everything and are incredible. Lori is also still there and she’s a hoot. Thank you to Katy and her staff for all they are doing. Can’t wait to see what the new year brings and what improvements she brings to the hotel.

        ROACHES! **OWNERS SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES. This place would FAIL INSPECTIONS and should be shut down for improvements!!** I wasn’t expecting the best for the price, but I don’t think I’m expecting too much by assuming my room would be roach-free. There was a dead roach on the floor when we walked in. And my whole 2-day stay, I was greeted by roaches when I went to the bathroom. At night, when the lights were off I noticed a 1/2 inch gap between the front door and the floor. To my horror, I could see about 3 roaches moving into my room from the light outside. I killed them and put a towel under the door to block them and give myself peace of mind. These were not the cockroaches that travel alone. It’s the kind that live by 1000s and reproduce like crazy in the walls. Additionally, the tub was so gross with mildew stains. Hairs were in the microwave, AC was shotty, and the hall and rooms smelled like smoke. I requested a new room because of this but that room smelled like smoke too and the front desk rep said “maybe it’s something they clean with?”. She was nice and accommodating, but not much she could do with the property being garbage. I should of spent $20 more a night for better options. the first room I had included A plush comforter blanket. The room I moved to only had a thin sheet and a cheap, thin decorative sheet that went on top. NO COMFORTER. I asked for one but only some rooms have it. I paid for a “DELUXE” room!!

        Mold in the bathrooms on the ceilings, roaches in the room, roaches in the bed crawling on me a night, chronic lack of hot water for showering, and a door that slams very loudly waking me up when someone is coming or going. There is no gym. And they banned us for leaving a honest bad review on our primary email. DO NOT COME HERE. There is pee in the staircases and no security. There was human feces on the bathroom wall. The mattress are very dirty with pee and mold. The phone for the front desk is moldy

        Front desk staff was nice BUT let’s talk about the room. The room didn’t have a microwave I guess that’s considered to be an upgrade. The was room was dark, gloomy and had a smell. Let’s not forget the bathroom, ugh…the toilet lid had sticky and nasty stuff on top. People hanging outside it just didn’t feel safe.
