Rex Hotel

The rooms are nice and clean but the outlet placement is inconvenient (e.g. there isn't an outlet on one side of the bed). The common areas however are quite dated and are due for some renovations. The corridor carpet looks quite worn, same thing for the pool, the stairs, the gym, the spa, etc. Also, the corridors have no AC and with the extreme heat and humidity of Saigon, you'd expect a five-star hotel to have AC. The lobby is very nice but is part of a shopping centre. This makes it quite hectic and the staff cannot distinguish a hotel guest from a random shopper. Therefore, service in the lobby can be dicey. The walls also seem to be quite thin as I could hear music and talking coming from other rooms. We had booked three premium rooms with king sized beds. Only one of the rooms had a king sized bed and the other two had two singles. The reception initially stated there were none available. After insisting, they magically found another room with a king sized bed. However, this room was not premium and was smaller than the other rooms. They advertise the premium rooms as being of a certain size and this room was not. They made no effort to compensate for this -- no reduced rate (since the room received was not the room paid for), not even a voucher of some sort. The breakfast was fine. Acceptable but not on par with other five-star hotels. The eggs served are prepared in advance rather than by order. There is also no shuttle service available to and from the airport. The location is great as you are in the city centre close to many shops, restaurants, and attractions. However, as stated, the common lobby with the shopping centre is annoying. Overall, this hotel did not meet my expectations. The hotel has such a grand reputation and boasts about its service, which was subpar considering the price of the rooms. I would say this is on the lower end of a four-star hotel.

My family and I stayed at the Rex Hotel in Ho Chi Minh city in November 2023. The hotel staff were very accommodating, helpful and pleasant. The location was convenient. Special thanks to the tour desk staff, especially Phuong An, Nhi, and Van, for arranging memorable tours for our family. The tours exceeded our expectations and met our needs. We would highly recommend families traveling in Vietnam to stay at this hotel, and to make use of their wonderful and trustworthy tour desk staff. All of the hotel staff from the drivers, waiters/waitresses, bell boys, and housekeeping employees, were incredibly kind and considerate. We greatly appreciated our stay at Rex.
