        Bed, was only comfortable once a soft futon was put on. Without it, too hard. Staff experience was mixed, a very helpful male at reception who was nice and helpful. As no breakfast at hotel, I didn’t think a problem until I realised when there little is open before 10:30am/11am and nothing immediately around. I walked about 15 minutes to a cafe only to line up for 30 minutes to place my order, then wait 20 minutes for my order. Was the only decent coffee shop around that I, and the hordes of tourists were aware of. The room itself was charming. Small but had a balcony and looked onto an old house. Bathroom was good, again small, but fine. The issue with the room was the paper thin walls. I had to wear earplugs. Location was good for Gion. Mixed feelings about the hotel.

        Room is a decent size but it's very dated. The bathroom reminds me of a old cruise ship or boat bathroom completely made with PVC walls. The toilet is INSANELY loud. It would wake up anyone in the room everytime you flush. Longest and loudest flush I've ever experienced in my life. Room smelled completely mildewy and had to use both the ac and the air purifier at all times to not cause my asthma to flare up. You'll experience that same smell as soon as you enter the elevator area past the front lobby. Completely off putting. Room is very noisy. Could hear people and cars zooming down the road at all times of the night. One family decided to entertain their child in the hallway and with the elevator for about an hour and could be heard the entire time while taking an afternoon nap from extreme jetlag. With cameras monitoring the hotel and staff well aware when discussed the next morning, would've appreciated them speaking to them at the time of occurrence rather than allowing them to continue on. Grab and go amenities were a perk but found better options at other similarly rated hotels in Japan. Front desk staff were polite and kind. Location is great to be in walking distance to old town Gion and all the highlights of the area. Walkable to the stations and all the shops and restaurants across the bridge. Definitely loved staying in Gion and would stay in the area again but not at this hotel and would not recommend to my fellow travelers.

        We stayed in the hotel during our trip in Kyoto for 5 nights. Honestly it was very good, comfortable, very clean, very attentive staff members. We have asked some questions about restaurants and recommendations and they gave us nice detailed recommendations and booked places for us.

        Either they provide you with a dehumidifier machine (a working one) or it will be impossible to sleep in the room. Worst first night in an hotel ever, me and my wife coughing all night with asma and red eyes. Humidity of the room was 78%. Luckily on the morning we spoke with the receptionist and they provide us the one they had in the entrance for the rest of nights. Since then, we slept well. So yes, be careful if you are allergic or even if not and check the humidity of your room before going to bed. Oh almost forget to mention that the toilet is super small (like if you were in a cruise) and I had to take showers looking down with the head and I could not see my face in the mirror.

        Very close yo everything in the popular spots in kyoto. Very close to subway station too. I would probably be coming back to this inn in my next visit to kyoto. Complete toiletries, with safe box and coffee maker are really great bonus. If you have heavy luggages exit at #7.
