Sea Star Homestay

The Sea Star was one of seven different places we stayed on our first trip to Viet Nam. Next time we go back we will stay there again as it was like staying with people who you can trust to help you in ways you never could in another place. Starting with the homestay it is just a block from the beach and a couple of minute walk from several nice restaurants. Our room was on the second floor with a nice balcony very comfortable king bed with adjoining bath. It is at the back of the building with a quiet AC system and lots of windows on both sides of the room. The room is totally clean and there is no noise day or night. In other words a nice place to stay in Hoi An for a great price. That said the best part of Sea Star are the owners, the nicest people We have ever encountered. They serve you a freshly cooked breakfast to your order in their large breakfast room. While we were there we were the only guests for part of the time and some other guests from the US arrived after we were there. We were told that we were like family while we were there and anything we had difficulty with they would be happy to help out. It turns out that is very true. We needed a motorbike to rent and the owner said to let him handle it as he would get it at a local's price and get it delivered. He did for a lot less than our motorbike rental in Phu Quoc a nice bike was at our doorstep the next morning after our late arrival. Then when we got lost on the bike the next day in the rain we were lost and pulled out the card we were given, "if anything goes wrong give this to someone to call me" and the owner was called by the receptionist at another hotel and he came out in the rain to show us the way home. The final thing above and beyond the call of a hotel was arranging a car and driver to take us up over the pass to Hue. Again like the best five-star concierge he had the driver waiting when we wanted when we returned home on our motorbike. Again this was done at a much better price than I could have arranged. When we hastily packed up and left with our driver for our four hour drive to Hue I realized several jours later in Hue that I left my GoPro camera and all it video footage of Hoi An on the helmet back in Hoi An. I emailed the owner of Sea Star asking if he could check with the motorbike owner if I may have left the camera behind. I had and the next day the three of them, Sea Star, the driver and the bike owner got me my camera back in my hands. The driver who was from Hue was going to Hoi An and picked up the camera and brought it to my hotel. So my advice to anyone going to Hoi An and wants a nice place to stay for a great price with truly wonderful people save yourself some trouble and stay at Sea Star. We found about about it from our son who had stayed there two years ago when he stayed there and he found it just as good as we did.

Very nice family run guest house. The owner was able to arrange a taxi for me from Da Nang then to the airport upon departure. At a better price than I could get. The beach is right across the street. Many good restaurants within walking distance. The room is large, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was good variety. It was very nice to have the use of a bicycle for going into town. Communication was very easy. I highly recommend and would stay here again.
