Singular Joy Vacation Rentals

I've read the good and bad reviews for this residence hotel on multiple sites and so I booked based on the ratings. I was here for 14 days so I think I have a good grasp on everything they have to offer and lack. My ratings are based on my experience with staying in many hotels/rentals in PDC. This place has lots of potential but lacks in some areas. The negatives are the nightclub noise(which I will get to) and the lack of steps or rail into the pools and jacuzzis. There is one long rooftop pool, a rectangular jacuzzi, and a large square jacuzzi. Most people sit down before getting in due to the drop. On the entry shelf ends, the water surface is low but the drop is actually equivalent to a 3-step down. Despite all that, the pool actually isn’t deep - my kid can stand it it. I wish the pool had only two levels so I could do laps but it’s divided into four equal parts. It’s got a two very shallow shelves, a less shallow portion and a 3.5’ deep portion. Jacuzzis are not heated but in fact warmed by the sun. It actually was tepid on some days. There’s a little outdoor showering area. The rooftop bar opens from 12pm-8pm but they close early if there are no guest activity. Prices are reasonable. $120 pesos for a frozen margarita, $50 pesos for a small bag of chips, $180 pesos for chicken Milanese and fries. Pool closes at 10pm. I don’t recommend this place for anyone with a physical disability. We hefted our luggage up the stairs to reception. Sure they have a lift to get up to reception but someone has to go upstairs to bring the lift down. There are elevators and a ramp on the rooftop but that’s about it. If you have the 2 or 3 bedroom units, they are offset by a nine stairs to get to them. Plus, you won’t be able to get into the pool or jacuzzis either. Even if you have a minor physical disability, bad knees, bad back, or just drunk, it could be a challenge because there are no steps or rails. Our unit has seen some wear and tear. Our sofa was severely stained they had to steam clean it. The window leaks during heavy rain, shower floor seal leaks, not all the safes work, the shower head is rusted, crack in the wood door, the walls are dinged and marred. Unlike US hotels, don’t expect a wash cloth, body wash, iron board, or coffee. It would be nice if the Nespresso coffee machine came with 2 - 3 pods so that guests know what compatible pods to buy. Units ending in #13 and #14 (example 13, 213, 314) are closest to the four nightclubs(open from 8:30pm-2:30am) at the end of the street. It will be loud so we used the air conditioner’s fan for white noise to sleep. See video to judge for yourself on the noise level. On the plus side, the rooftop is beautiful, it’s close to the beach, and maid service got better once they found out we were here for an extended stay. Overall, it’s a decent stay.
